Measuring developer productivity: by all accounts not the most straightforward endeavour. The research below however takes a compelling approach, assessing the value of GitHub Copilot across 17000 devs.

I like what GitHub is doing, they were the first to realise the AI topic and started digging in that direction like crazy. And now they are announcing the beta of GitHub Workspaces, a collaboration system for software development. The main idea is that every team member can do everything from requirements and design to code and deployment, and there are no such tools yet, so GitHub is going to the field of collaboration systems and is attacking Jira, Asana and Wrike. In general, they make a system of work with an assistant who can write requirements for sluggish ideas, and make a plan, and specify in which files to change what, and create a pool of requests and describe and debug, and in a collaborative environment where you can discuss these with colleagues. Plus every step can be corrected or rewritten so that things don't go into a corkscrew like in the post above. This is so cool! Another step towards a future way to do software development in an AI-assisted way 🤖. I'm waitlisted - Can't wait to try it out! 🤓 Copilot is already a great productivity boost for us at HumanMeetsAi to develop our application. Whenever it's not working e.g. due to the internet connection, typing out all your code "only" with the help of IntelliSense feels like you just went on the clutch while your foot is against the gas pedal. 😂 For high-level programming task across multiple files, you still need to manage on your own, but seems GitHub Copilot Workspace may have an answer for that.
