There will be a lot to learn from this CrowdStrike update failure. A corrupted file was pushed in the driver update that when deleted will resolve the issue. What processes allowed for an update push that caused a catastrophic failure this large? Our team has put together an incident report of the CrowdStrike outage that threw the world into disarray & stopped me from filling up with fuel at 7-11! One damn file shows how much of a house of cards we're living in. That's what we heard from #CrowdStrike as a manual fix or workaround to the global outage of #Microsoft operating systems caused by CS's #security update. You've probably already heard about the impacts to air travel, banking, and retail. Manual fix...go into safe mode...and delete one file... one. damn. file. CrowdStrike is the 3rd party security vendor for roughly half of the #Fortune500. Up to 70% of the #Fortune100 were impacted. A bunch of these major companies let CrowdStrike's update roll right into their production environment without testing it. Stupid... monumentally stupid. Our whole system upon which all our economy and industries depend is a house of cards.

Biggest global IT outage recorded in history : Crowdstrike update causes window users into blue screen of death loop... A defective software update issued by Crowdstrike triggered significant computer shutdowns worldwide as of today (19th July 2024) The update affected major public sectors, including airlines, healthcare facilities, emergency response teams, and a multitude of other services and companies.
