At Holland Greentech, we recognise the critical role that gender equality and female inclusion play in driving sustainable growth in the agricultural sector. Gender equality is not just a matter of fairness; it is a strategic imperative for achieving green and inclusive development. Research has shown that including women fosters diversity in perspective, enhances food security and bolsters community resilience. Women are seen to prioritise sustainable farming practices, conservation of biodiversity and natural resource management. For that reason we engage with thousands of women throughout the African continent, equipping them with skills and knowledge, support in business planning and access to markets. The same counts for our own team. Over half of the Holland Greentech management positions are filled by women. Research demonstrates that having women in management positions at companies can result in more diverse perspectives, improved financial performance, enhanced team dynamics, better talent retention and recruitment, and a stronger focus on corporate social responsibility. So this #Internationalwomensday we celebrate all the women who make the agricultural sector a great place to work! #GenderEquality #GreenGrowth #SustainableAgriculture #HollandGreentech

At EcoVadis, we believe that building an #equitable organization is essential to helping companies in our network do the same – in their value chains or own operations. International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to reflect on collective progress toward building more equitable organizations and value chains. Our annual Sustain conference on March 11th will bring together business leaders from across our network to discuss building equitable organizations. This year's conference will feature a greater gender diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) lens than ever before. March 8 marks International Women's Day – we want to use this occasion to highlight the crucial importance of gender equality as a driver of sustainable transformation. According to scientists at the IÖW (Institut für ökologische Wirtschaftsforschung – Institute for Ecological Economy Research), a feminist perspective on sustainability uncovers the parallel dynamics behind the overexploitation of social and ecological capacities. Here, the approach of feminist economics offers a necessary change of perspective that places human life interests back at the centre of political and economic action. This is why we see the social movements of feminism as an important part of a more sustainable future. With this year's BIOFACH Congress theme “Food for the Future: Women’s Impact on Sustainable Food Systems”, we have therefore put the transformational power of women in the food sector and their role in creating a more sustainable future for the organic food system in the spotlight. During the trade fair, we spoke to many inspiring women from the sector – some of whom are pictured here – about their work and their convictions. The theme for International Women's Day this year, 'Invest in women, Accelerate progress' resonates on many levels. For us working at the regional level, our Pacific Community-SPC team had an amazing time this week with our sisters from the CROP Women of the Wave (#CROP WOW) to network and discuss areas of support across our organisations. The CROP WOW network aims to support and inspire women in the international governmental organizations of the Pacific to further their career and leadership aspirations, and to expand the connections and opportunities in a sector where numbers of women in senior positions are lagging. Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum and Chair of the CROP, Mr Henry Puna when launching the CROP WOW in 2021 stated that, “We know women are significantly under-represented in leadership positions across our Blue Pacific region, whether in parliament, government, the private sector or at the community level. This is also an issue for our regional agencies, and I look forward to the benefits of more diversity and representation which WOW will bring to our effectiveness at all levels.” The #SPC #WomeninLeadership Programme (part of the #PacificWomenLead@SPC) has been supporting coordination of this network under the leadership of our Principal Strategic Lead, Mereseini Rakuita. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Note: The Council of Regional Organisations in the Pacific (CROP) is an inter-organisational consultative process aimed at strengthening Pacific regionalism through consolidating regional knowledge, expertise and resources to deliver goods and services effectively and efficiently at the regional level. #PacificPeoples | The CROP Women of the Wave (WOW) event for International Women’s Day 2024 brought together women and men staff from diverse backgrounds for a breakfast event on Tuesday, 12 March, at Ginger Café in Suva, Fiji. The event commenced with an opening address by Virginia Dawson, Director of Policy at the Pacific Islands Forum, who delivered a motivational and personal reflection on the significance of women supporting each other in their leadership journeys. She shared, "I realised that most often, it was female collaborators who became insightful coaches… Remember and thank the female companions throughout your career."🗣️ Mereseini Rakuita, Principal Strategic Lead for Pacific Women and Girls at #SPC, followed with an impactful and inspirational message about #IWD2024 and the WOW network. In her remark, she stated, "If you are in this room, man or women, you hold power and responsibility… As individuals, as members of CROP WOW, what can we do? Hold the door open for the next leader, mentor that young leader in your workplace. You can have a role in shaping up the next leadership ranks of the region."🗣️ The event also featured a fun 'speed networking' activity facilitated by Ronna, where CROP colleagues engaged and shared lessons learned and successes from #IWD2024 events, exploring ways in which CROPs can collaborate more effectively in their future activities. WOW remains committed to improving gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls across all divisions, as well as within the programs and communities it supports. 🤝 The event was kindly supported by Pacific Women Lead and Women in Leadership Programme Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade #CROPWOW #InvestInWomen

This International Women's Day, March 8, let us shine a spotlight on the indispensable role of women in water management and sustainability. As we pursue Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG5) — aiming for gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by 2030 🌺 — it's crucial to recognize the unique contributions women make in the water sector. Despite progress, we are yet to fully tap into the potential offered by achieving gender equality in this critical field, which is essential for a prosperous and sustainable world 🌍💜. #Watermanagement is at the heart of sustainable development, impacting everything from ecology to economy. Women, often the primary water collectors and users in communities, possess invaluable knowledge and insights into water conservation, quality, and sustainability. Yet, their representation in decision-making processes and leadership roles within the water sector remains disproportionately low 🌸. On this International Women's Day, we call for a renewed commitment to empowering women in water management. Elevating women's roles is not merely about achieving gender balance but about enhancing the effectiveness, equity, and sustainability of water solutions 💧👩🌾. By ensuring women have equal opportunities to contribute, lead, and innovate, we can address the global water challenges more holistically and effectively. Let us use today to reaffirm our dedication to SDG5, recognizing that gender equality in water management is key to securing a sustainable future for all 🌏💜. Together, we can forge a path where women's contributions in water sustainability are not only recognized but are also integral to our strategies and actions. The journey to 2030 requires us to harness the full potential of every individual. This International Women's Day, let's pledge to empower women in the water sector, acknowledging their role as custodians of our most precious resource 💦🌷. #InternationalWomensDay #SDG5 #GenderEquality #WaterSustainability #Empowerment #WomenInWater #WomenInDesal
