How do you know if a driver is eligible for an EV? For the first time in Fleet Management, we have had to consider an employee’s unique circumstances during a Fit for Purpose analysis, to determine whether they are suitable for an EV. This is called a Driver Persona. An Electric Vehicle Driver Persona is a detailed profile of an individual, outlining their suitability or preferences for using electric vehicles. This persona considers various factors such as driving habits, business trip distances and profile, access to charging infrastructure, and driver acceptance. By creating these personas, your organisation can identify which drivers are best suited for EV adoption, and tailor your EV policies accordingly, making informed decisions about the allocation of electric vehicles within your fleet. These personas are developed by completing a Driver EV Suitability Assessment, that will uncover the drivers personal and business travel circumstances relating to their charge options, trip personas and acceptance. FleetPolicy.com has sample Suitability Assessments, and Fleet Policy templates will help your organisation integrate EV’s into your fleet.

🔋There are many benefits of #ev charging. #Fleet owners are embracing electric vehicles (EVs) as a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to internal combustion engine vehicles (ICE). With EVs accounting for up to 13% of vehicle sales in 2024, the momentum is undeniable. 📈 Particularly in the trucking industry, where fuel costs are a significant expense, EVs offer substantial savings by eliminating idling costs, which can amount to thousands of dollars per vehicle annually. ⛽ Ready to electrify your fleet? In all of the discussions of electric vehicles one area of clean vehicle technologies that goes largely unnoticed is fleets. What are fleets? Well, all kinds of things that we deal with in our daily lives. Fire, police and ambulances? Those are vehicle fleets. School buses? Yup, those too. And utility crews, long haul trucking that keeps grocery and retail stores stocked, the US Post Office delivery system and the package delivery services that bring goods right to our doorsteps - all fleets. And fleets are hard at work to reduce emissions. California and other states have passed ambitious plans termed "advanced clean fleet" rules, and both private and public sector fleets have ambitious goals to reduce carbon emissions. The diversity of the kinds of vehicles that fleets operate, and the critical services they provide, mean that fleets will need a variety of technology options as they work to decarbonize - one size definitely does not fit all in the fleet space. This piece in the The Washington Post by Shannon Osaka does a nice job of laying out some of the progress we are seeing, as well as some of the challenges fleets face. For example, regulators place the burden on fleets to move their fleets to zero emissions vehicles (ZEVs) by certain dates, but to do that fleets are dependent on many other actors; vehicle manufacturers to produce ZEVs that meet the dizzying variety of fleet needs, and fueling infrastructure for the vehicles, be it a new electrical substation to permit EV charging or hydrogen fueling infrastructure, provided by utilities or others. That is why it is critical for legislators, regulators and the private sector to collaborate with not just fleets but vehicle manufacturers, technology developers, utilities and others to ensure that we develop rules and timetables that fleets can meet while ensuring they continue to deliver the critical services we all rely on. NAFA Fleet Management Association, which represents fleet managers nationwide, is playing a critical role in helping to make this collaboration happen to facilitate the timely decarbonization of America's fleets. https://lnkd.in/eTuYid4u
