Fractional Chief Operations Officer (fCOO) | Business Operations Consultant | Strategic Integration + Execution | Operational Leadership | Speaker
When I was 21, I boarded a plane to London, with 2 months notice. Normally, I am the one who has the travel itinerary typed out full with links and copies of confirmations, however this decision there was a strong feeling that this was the right next step for me. With two phone numbers, $2,000 in my bank account, no job lined up and accommodation for a single month, I landed at Heathrow buzzing with excitement to discover what this adventure would bring. Mission One: Securing A Role I became a familiar face at the local internet cafe as I researched recruitment agencies and lined up interviews sending off my CV saved on my iPod. It didn't take long (week two) and I had secured a position at Rothschild & Co, an investment bank located right in the heart of the city. Mission Two: A Place To Call Home If you have ever travel the journey from London to Brighton you will know that the 3-4 hour return trip was not sustainable long term. With my mind focused it didn't take long (week three) to find a tiny room in a huge shared house in Clapham. Yes I had to masking tape the blinds to the window frames to keep the cold November weather out and the best thing about the house was the water pressure, however it supported me in my next mission. Mission Three: Finding My People Being new to a big city, this was my next focus and it didn't take long (week four) after joining the Rothschild Social Club (that I later became the Chairman) the invitations to join for afterwork drinks at The Vintry arrived in my inbox. For the following six years I was so fortunate to have the most amazing experiences, made lifelong friendships, worked for two great companies (Rothschild & Co & Macquarie Group) and I met my wonderful husband Simon Smith. Being back in Melbourne for 14 years this year and as I look back at the decision to move across the world, it never at any moment felt like it was a big thing. Every mission I undertake before and since this move has provided the same experience, where my energies are focused, results follow. #businessoperations #focusedactions

Recruiting for the creative sector | PR, Social and Content Specialist Supercharge your team | Supercharge your career
Such an interesting read in Prolific North; ‘Leeds is a creative melting pot’ – How Leeds is growing as a marketing hub I am super proud to live in Yorkshire and work in Leeds, especially within this industry. I don't just say it for saying it sake, but there is a real marketing hub and buzz around Leeds and I am excited to see what the next year or two holds for both the city and the industry. You would think with such an array of agencies and big name brands choosing Leeds as their base, and more people returning from London and Manchester, there would be no issue appointing the right person into the right role? Wrong. Abigail Baldwin mentions 'although there’s no talent shortage, competition is fierce and there are some skill gaps' and goes on to say 'Within the digital and creative sectors, reputation is essential. Many recruitment opportunities are heard on the grapevine – they’re not all formally advertised. So, you have to break into the crowd and meet the right people.' Feeling overwhelmed looking for a new role? Not sure where to start on that Senior Level appointment you need before your current employee leaves? Let us help break through the noise. #leeds #marketing #pr ThePlaceToBe tinyurl.com/3ysanaza

🎉Today marks my 15th day in New York City, and I've come to realize just how incredibly busy this city is. The streets are always bustling with people, and there's a constant hum of activity that never seems to pause. The corporate offices here are particularly intense; they're filled with professionals who are perpetually on the move, juggling numerous meetings, projects, and deadlines. The pace is relentless, with a palpable sense of urgency that permeates the business districts. It's clear that this city thrives on a high-octane environment where efficiency and productivity are paramount. Navigating this fast-paced corporate world can be both exhilarating and exhausting. The competition is fierce, and the expectations are sky-high, but this also means there are countless opportunities for growth and advancement. Every day presents a new challenge and a chance to learn something new. The diversity of the workforce is another striking aspect; people from all over the world bring their unique perspectives and skills, creating a dynamic and innovative atmosphere. However, it's crucial to find balance amidst the chaos. Taking breaks in quieter parts of the city, like Central Park or small community gardens, can provide much-needed respite. Networking is vital here, as connections can often lead to new opportunities and collaborations. The city also offers an abundance of cultural and recreational activities that can help decompress after a long day at the office. From world-class museums and theaters to diverse culinary experiences and vibrant nightlife, there's always something to explore and enjoy. In conclusion, New York City's busy nature and bustling corporate scene can be overwhelming, but with the right approach and mindset, it also offers unparalleled opportunities for professional and personal growth.

Good morning and happy Tuesday! We have had a great response since the launch of Elevate Supply! We have had a fantastic response from candidates across South Yorkshire, and so we are reaching out to schools across South Yorkshire to begin our journey of supporting schools with their supply recruitment! Our amazing specialist within South Yorkshire, Javairia Khan, will be reaching out to your school in the next few weeks to discuss the endless benefits of Elevate Supply. In a nutshell: - We save schools on average 20% off their current daily and long term supply costs - Free to use technology, with our platform operating as a "pay as you go" system - basically , you don't pay unless you hire supply cover, and they complete the work - We have fully transparent pricing, all visible before you make or confirm a booking - We connect schools to local teachers by using first class technology. Create your role, and at the click of a button, your vacancy instantly reaches out to all our candidates who match the requirements you have set - You also have a dedicated account manager at hand to help support you at all times Elevate Supply is proud to be part of Twinkl Educational Publishing, and we are working towards improving the standards of the education industry. For too long, schools have been overcharged and candidates underpaid. We are changing this model, to ensure teachers are paid fairly and to scale, while schools also save time and money in the process! If you're a school and use supply - reach out to myself or Javairia Khan and we will happily arrange a time with you to chat about your current situation, provide an online demo of our technology and show you how we can help address any issues you currently face. If you're a candidate in South Yorkshire and currently use an agency to find your work - then reach out to myself or Chardaine Martin and we can help you register and find work. We allow candidates to select their own rate of pay to ensure they are paid fairly. So if you're currently working within supply, it will be worth your while registering with us, and setting your daily rate to a higher and fairer rate that you're most likely being paid now! We are here to change the game of education recruitment. And we aren't going to stop until we succeed. Come and join our community and lets work together to create a fair and cost effective solution to supply! Have a great Tuesday everyone! #edtech #supplyrecruitment #schools #supplyteachers #headteachers #supply #teachers #supplyteachers
