💭 Meet Caleb Watney 💭
Caleb exemplifies someone who impacts the world through policy. 🏛️
In university Caleb was really interested in both economics and technology, and after some internships he realized that he could combine his interests through technology policy. He graduated with a master's degree in economics from George Mason University, and from there started working on different sorts of tech policy issues at a number of different think tanks.
Caleb has been a researcher at the Mercatus Center, worked at the R Street Institute, and was also the director of innovation policy at the Progressive Policy Institute.
But he didn’t stop there - Caleb has spent the last seven years working in policy in Washington D.C., and has now co-founded his own change-making think tank called Institute for Progress (IFP), which aims to accelerate technological, scientific, and industrial progress. 🚀
His work has been well recognized across various media organizations, such as The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Economist, National Journal, and many more.
Caleb’s work in policy and his Christian faith go hand in hand. 🤝
He says “we're certainly called to be in the world, but not of it… and so insofar as the mission of the Church is to bring the kingdom of God on earth, I think that's going to involve some engagement with the political process and of the political principalities of this world”. He views politics as a powerful way for Christians to have a radical impact in the world, while not compromising on our values and convictions.
If you’re interested in hearing more from Caleb, attend our annual conference in Washington D.C. on May 18-19 where he’ll be the keynote speaker! If you can't make it in person, you can also watch virtually for free. We can’t wait to hear Caleb speak and see many of you there!
