Corrections Officer Trainee at ECDOC, EKG Technician at AHN Saint Vincent Hospital, B.S. PHE- Physical Activity and Fitness Management conc. Fitness and Aquatics, Minor in Adventure Fitness, B.S. Public Health
As an EKG technician of only 10 months I can tell you I’ve seen numerous cases of a-fib (atrial fibrillation) affecting numerous patients. Often times, patients don’t know warning signs such as ⬇️⬇️⬇️— “Pain areas: in the chest Whole body: dizziness, fatigue, inability to exercise, or weakness Heart: fast heart rate or palpitations Also common: shortness of breath” cred: Mayo Clinic 2023 —can be symptoms of a-fib, being mistaken as being “out of shape,” “a lung issue,” etc. A-fib can be controlled in a vast array of ways, unfortunately it’s usually caught later in life (age 60+). Little does the population know, a-fib can be present in any age group. This article is a great read, showing the factors that cause atrial fibrillation to go undiagnosed. I hope we see a day that heart monitoring becomes more a preventative measure rather than it being too late. #hearthealth #healthawareness #healthcare
