Executives bet big on AI, but who's teaching the Team? The training gap that could make or break our digital future Despite a high level of enthusiasm and adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace, a significant gap exists between executive investment in AI technologies and the provision of AI training for employees. According to LinkedIn's latest workplace learning report, while 80% of workers express a keen interest in learning more about AI's application in their roles, only 38% of U.S. executives are actively facilitating AI literacy among their teams. This disconnect is further highlighted by the fact that nearly three-quarters of CEOs identify generative AI as a critical investment focus to enhance profitability, innovation, and security, yet more than half prioritize spending on new technologies over training existing staff. Consequently, employees are increasingly taking the initiative to upskill themselves, with LinkedIn making over 250 AI-related courses freely available, underscoring the importance of self-directed learning in an era where prompt engineering emerges as a pivotal skill.
