This giving season, I want to feature my favorite program: MAKE THE MOVE TO SUPPORT LOCAL SCHOOLS 🍎 🚌 I donate $5,000 to your local Education Foundation when you buy or sell a home. I'm a long-time, active Foundation member. I know just how much our school districts rely on Foundation support to provide quality education. Funds raised provide additional teachers, specialists, programs, and tools that make our schools extraordinary places for learning. This benefits both homes values and school districts. A report by the National Bureau of Economic Research titled, “Using Market Valuation to Assess Public School Spending,” found that for every dollar spent on public schools in a community, home values increased by about $20. This increase directly translates to higher resale values. What is your favorite charitable organizations this season? Using technology to close the gap! I am not asking for a donation. I just want educators to think differently about how we go about getting supplies in the classroom. Instead of asking for each child to bring in supplies, PTA hosts a supply drive at my daughter's school. Think about how this can help a parent struggling to make ends meet. Think about how this can impact a child when the student next to them has a $10 pencil box and they are using a Ziploc bag. Think about how this allows Grandparents from afar to support their grandchildren in the classroom. Think about how this supports educators. https://lnkd.in/gbdY2-Xq #schoolleaders #schoolsupplies #education

Are you ready to go back to school? Back-to-school donations are a great way to support students and schools in need. If you’re interested in making a donation, there are several options you can consider: 1. School Supplies: Pens, pencils, paper, binders, sharpies, highlighters, markers, binders, rulers, backpacks, pencil cases and duo tangs are a few things that students need for school. 2. Monetary Donations: Financial contributions can be valuable for schools to purchase necessary supplies or fund educational programs. You can donate directly to schools or consider supporting non-profit organizations that focus on education and provide resources to schools and students. 3. Clothing and Uniforms: Some schools have dress codes or require uniforms. Donating new or gently used clothing items that meet the school’s guidelines can help students who may not have access to appropriate attire. Gifted Community Foundation has started shopping for back to school supplies for multiple schools in Red Deer, Sylvan Lake and Ponoka. Here is our first haul! #giftedcommunity #helpingthoseinneed #nonprofitorganization #schoolsupplies #donations

Support Students 🤝 Donate School Supplies On Aug. 19, nearly 25,000 Springfield Public Schools students will come to school eager to learn. However, not all of them will have the supplies they need due to lack of resources. To help support students and their families, SPS is launching Ready. Set. Supply!, its annual campaign to collect school supply donations so all SPS students can start the school year off right. "A new school year is an exciting time for students but it can also be costly for families, especially those with multiple school-aged children," explained Jessica Blake, coordinator of community relations. "We want to help fill those gaps and make sure every student has the necessary supplies to be success ready." Community members and organizations can help by donating school supplies or making financial contributions. Visit sps.org/readysetsupply for list of needed supplies and a link to donate. 🔗sps.org/readysetsupply

Education is the key to unlocking a brighter future for every child. Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that inspires and celebrates generosity. We ask you to Give Back with Impact to thousands of Forest Hills students. Double your IMPACT with an anonymous donor's matching gift of up to $25,000! If you’ve been on the fence, here are three reasons to donate today that would not be possible without the support of donors like you: #1 - Giving students access at school to meet with a Child Focus Therapist. FHFE funds one additional therapist each year. On average, 260 students are able to see a therapist at school. 100% of school staff would recommend school-based services. #2 - Supporting over 600 Nagel students “find their way and get connected” through After-School Clubs, tutoring, and bus transportation home. #3 - Access to more books at all 6 elementary schools. We are so thankful to our donors, and any amount matters. Each dollar raised goes to a good cause and a stronger district. Ready to donate? https://lnkd.in/e5SKQZSy

One of the key themes we must take away from our ongoing analysis of the K12 EdTech safety benchmark data throughout this year is that current software norms [like the finding below] result in extremely risky technology for children [of all ages]. Recall that 28% of the apps in our benchmark WEREN'T edtech apps, but mixed audience services like news and reference sites, games, streaming media, etc. Nearly 80% of the sampled of apps were collecting location information. Certainly, the majority of these apps don't have a sufficiently compelling need to collect location information. We must not become complacent and regard this as an acceptable situation. The numbers may seem overwhelming and the situation may seem intractable, but it starts with awareness, knowledge, facts. It starts with constant, accurate measurement and reporting of the risky invisible behaviors of the software. ISL will continue to catalog and publish the unavoidable safety risks in software in order to hold developers accountable. (And there's still time to avail of a tax-deductible contribution to further our efforts. :-)
Did you know that 79% of EdTech apps used in K12 schools access student location? This is one of the many research insights we’ve published in our 2022 US EdTech K12 Benchmark Report. If you find this helpful, now is the time before the year ends to make your contribution matter. Internet Safety Labels is a non-profit fueled by grants and donations from our supporters.
