It's time to meet another member of our Community Advisory Board Leadership Team! I am truly honored and grateful to rebuild with a team of amazing leaders who provide mentorship, leadership, guidance, and perspective as we shape the next chapter of Wonder Women Tech. I can honestly say that before having this level of expertise to bounce strategy and ideas off of, I thought I was "crazy" or a "failure" for the things I did or didn't do. For so many years I had to test things out and throw things at a wall to see if it stuck and navigate the lows in silence. Not anymore! I've since learned many leaders have ridden the same crazy roller coaster I've been on. I am grateful for their kindness, compassion and grace as I am just as vulnerable with them as I am in public. This is a safe space for open communication and belonging. Katie Wilson first joined our Wonder Women Tech ecosystem as one of our speakers in 2019, and again in 2023, and joined our CAB this year! She was the Former Google Head of Sales, and is the founder of Serious Moonlight Consulting. She is a sales & marketing leader helping tech and retail companies achieve sustainable growth. After leaving big tech (15 years at Google) she has helped companies untangle and demystify their sales and marketing processes to achieve sustainable growth. Katie has been featured on @Google Talks, Wonder Women Tech and is on the advisory board for UC Riverside’s Design Thinking course and Wonder Women Tech. She is known for her unique blend of creative and analytical thinking. She has interviewed over 400 would-be Googlers and helped launch LVMH’s first ecommerce site. Katie is also incredibly KIND, and is a very active part of our Advisory team. At the end of 2023, I asked my network whether they had a mentor. Only 17% said yes. 😞 With 50% of women leaving tech before 35, citing a lack of career advancement and mentorship, I decided to take action. One of Elevate - Women in Tech / Halzak's 2024 goals is providing 100 women with a mentor through the new 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢. 🤝 On March 1st, we're celebrating the virtual launch of our first cohort! 🎉 𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙚? The program supports women leaders ready to advance from first-level management to the C-suite and remain in tech. We feel there are other great programs for career switchers, boot camps, and early-stage career support.📈 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙? ❌ The “broken rung” is the greatest obstacle women face as they look to advance into tech leadership. For every 100 men promoted from entry-level to manager, 87 women were promoted. 💵 We also believe that women should have access to programs without concern of financial constraints as a barrier.
