Across Somalia 6.9 million people (37%) are reliant on humanitarian aid, 1.5 million children are acutely malnourished, and 3.8 million people (20%) are displaced by poverty, climate change, and conflict. In 2023 our seasonal food distributions benefited nearly 1 million people, and 111,000 Somalis received life-saving emergency aid from Zamzam Foundation as heavy floods followed the worst drought in living memory. I had to make a pitstop at Petra in the Middle East... At the height of the Syrian refugee crisis in Fall 2016, some of us came together in NorCal, gathered our collective talents across business, medical, and social impact, and armed with practical skills, light, hope, and justice, went and served Jordanians and Syrians in Northern Jordan on two separate occasions. We didn’t solve global conflict, however, peaceful families fleeing for their lives were 100% blessed as we deployed help and opportunity to resettle and relaunch their lives. It was one of my greatest honors. 🥹 As the world continues to rumble with conflict and uncertainty, it’s possible to anchor our hope in something far greater than what we see in the headlines. I’ve seen in the midst of great challenges always lie abundant opportunities to show up, show out, and make a difference. It’s always time to mobilize. It’s always time to rise.  And now is the time. Every day, we get to choose. We get to choose hope. We get to choose light. We get to choose love. We get to choose to bless instead of curse. We get to choose what unites us instead of what divides us. We get to choose every day who we’re becoming. It’s not by osmosis, it’s by intentionality. As I reflect on who I’m becoming, who I want my children to be, and how I’m choosing to show up every day to uplift our community, I am filled with hope. There are many good people in the world choosing to do good in this hour, and for you I’m grateful. 👏🏼 I don’t know about you, but we need this more than ever: public-servants and servant-leaders who choose what is true and noble and right and pure and excellent, always. For me, I’m choosing to see humans having inherent dignity, value, and worth. Conflict-induced hunger in #Gaza is reaching unbearable levels, pushing children into malnutrition and starvation. The sheer scale of suffering is heartbreaking. An estimated 59 kids are expected to die every day in northern Gaza due to starvation and related issues, according to the IPC’s most recent findings. Behind each statistic lies a story of a child and their family fighting for survival.   Inaction is a political act. The safety, protection and well-being of all civilians, especially children, must be the priority of all parties in accordance with international humanitarian law, including protection against indiscriminate violence, use of tactics depriving them of the means to cover their essential necessities, forced displacement and vigilante justice. A ceasefire should urgently be implemented. Life-saving aid must reach children and their families whose lives have been shattered by months (and years) of suffering. 🕊️ #ENOUGH #CeasefireNow

🕊️ The Hidden Suffering: Tigrayan IDPs Seeking Refuge in Hunger In the midst of the Tigray crisis, there's a heartbreaking reality often overlooked—the plight of internally displaced people (IDPs) forced to hide in hunger, seeking refuge in caves to escape the ravages of conflict. The conflict in Tigray has left countless families displaced, with many finding shelter in remote caves, far from the aid and attention they desperately need. These individuals face unimaginable hardships, struggling to find enough food and basic necessities to survive. As donors and humanitarian communities, it's crucial to recognize the urgent need for action. We cannot allow the suffering of Tigrayan IDPs to go unnoticed or unaddressed. Every effort must be made to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most, and that steps are taken to end the violence and displacement in Tigray. In times of crisis, the silence of world leaders speaks volumes & failing humanity . As the situation in Palestine escalates,the silence from global leaders is deafening. In the midst of conflict and turmoil, the most vulnerable often suffer the most. The children of Palestine are enduring unimaginable hardships, with their lives overshadowed by violence, fear, and uncertainty. Every day, Palestinian children face: - Constant Threat of Violence: Living in war zones means that the sound of explosions and gunfire is a part of daily life. Schools and homes, places that should be safe, are often not spared. - Lack of Basic Necessities: Access to clean water, food, and healthcare is severely restricted. Blockades and military operations have devastated infrastructure, leaving families struggling to meet even the most basic needs. -Disruption of Education: Schools are frequently damaged or destroyed, and the psychological trauma makes learning incredibly difficult. Many children grow up without access to the education they need for a better future. - Psychological Trauma: The constant exposure to violence and loss has a profound impact on mental health. Many children suffer from PTSD, anxiety, and depression, with little to no access to mental health support. -Displacement and Homelessness: Numerous families have been forced to flee their homes, living in overcrowded refugee camps with limited resources and support. These children dream of peace and safety, a chance to play and learn without fear. They deserve a future where their potential is not stifled by conflict. It’s crucial for the global community to come together and advocate for the rights and well-being of Palestinian children. They need protection, humanitarian aid, and above all, a chance for a peaceful and secure future. Spread the word. Raise your voice.
