📰 New Report: Somali capacities to respond to crisis are changing; how are humanitarian actors responding?   Our report, out today, explores the state of the current humanitarian response in #Somalia and analyses whether the system has the tools, capacities, resources and right approach to be able to mount the sort of response that is needed. 📢 Key findings: Widespread famine was narrowly averted in 2022/23 in Somalia but the growing and significant capacities of the Somali government, civil society and private sector were still too sidelined from meaningful roles in strategy, planning design and implementation of the humanitarian response.   Read the report in full: https://lnkd.in/dq8JNmeg This report is a part of our Rapid Response Initiative and is a collaboration between Humanitarian Outcomes and Centre for Humanitarian Change. Somalia integration in the East African Community threatened by internal conflicts and insecurity: #Somalia accession to the East African Community has become recently a hot topic. A policy note issued by the Economic Research Policy Centre (ERPC), a Ugandan think-tank, questions the ability of Somalia to integrate economically and politically within such Regional Economic Community because of the persisting conflicts and insecurity in the country, that in the latest years have produced spillover insurgencies straining regional relations and resulting in a refugee crisis across regional #borders.
