GITC Visits MBOT Putrajaya, 20 August - The Government-Industry TVET Coordination Body (GITC) recently visited the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) to explore potential collaborations in enhancing the skills and employability of TVET graduates. The primary objective of the visit was to delve deeper into MBOT's expertise in professional certification and accreditation. By understanding MBOT's processes and standards, GITC aims to transform graduating students from institutions such as Kolej Komuniti, ILP, IKBN, and Kolej Vokasional into highly skilled professionals capable of meeting the demands of the modern workforce. Specifically, the focus is on empowering students to excel in technical and technological fields such as construction, automated production, autonomous maintenance, and quality control. This initiative is designed to address the nation's reliance on low-skilled foreign workers and pave the way for a more self-sufficient and high-income economy. By collaborating with MBOT, GITC is taking a proactive step towards equipping Malaysia's future workforce with the necessary skills to be professionally certified and to drive innovation and competitiveness across various sectors. This strategic approach is a testament to GITC's commitment to fostering a thriving TVET ecosystem that benefits both individuals and the nation as a whole. Press Release UTM and Certiify Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Education and Innovation JOHOR BAHRU, 27 June 2024 – Today, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Certiify have formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing academic excellence and fostering innovation in education. The signing ceremony, held at UTM’s Johor Bahru campus, marks a significant milestone in collaborative efforts between academia and industry. Under the MoU, UTM and Certiify commit to strengthening academic and research collaboration across various disciplines. This partnership will facilitate joint research initiatives aimed at addressing global challenges and driving impactful innovations. Furthermore, the agreement emphasizes the development of talent through specialized programs designed to equip students and professionals with skills aligned with industry needs. These initiatives will be crucial in nurturing future leaders and innovators. The exchange of scholarly information and resources is another key aspect of the partnership, aimed at enriching educational outcomes and fostering a dynamic learning environment at both institutions. Certiify’s advanced Certificate Management System is planned to be implemented to streamline certification processes across multiple academic and professional domains. This system ensures transparency and efficiency in managing certifications, enhancing credibility and facilitating seamless transitions for students and professionals. Prof. Dr. Rosli bin Md. Illias, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) of UTM, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "This collaboration with Certiify marks a pivotal moment for UTM in advancing our research capabilities and enhancing educational offerings. 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗦 𝗔 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘. The 2023-2028 National Technical Education and Skills Development Plan was briefly presented during technical orientations to the chiefs of staff of Congress representatives to ensure they understand various programs, policies, and services that the agencies offer at the House of Representatives last 14 August, in Quezon City. The NTESDP 2023-2028 serves as a national blueprint for the technical vocational education and training (TVET) sector which centered around a theme, “MaGaling at MakaBagong TVET para sa Bagong Pilipinas: TVET as Pathway to Recovery and Social-Economic Transformation”. The NTESDP is spearheaded by TESDA with technical assistance and support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Opportunity 2.0 Project of the Education Development Center (EDC). The IRIS was contracted by the EDC to implement the "Galing TVET: Futures Thinking, Innovations, and Pride in TVET in Post-pandemic Philippines — Agenda Setting and Formulation of TESDA's 5th Cycle NTESDP 2023-2028" Project.
