E-commerce without a backend? Is that possible❓ Well, yes, but actually, no. We've spent the past few weeks working on Your Next Store: a storefront that prioritizes speed and user experience and requires no other backend except Stripe. 🔹 Sales? Stripe. 🔹 Products? Stripe. 🔹 Shipping? Stripe. You get the idea. Our goal is to keep it as simple as possible, but not simpler. I'm super happy and proud to invite you to join us on our launch on May 28th. Today, I continued working on the ShopCommerce project, focusing on implementing the functionality for the "Add to Cart" button. Since the website currently lacks user authentication, I needed a way to associate cart items with each user. To achieve this, I implemented the following process: 1. When a user clicks the "Add to Cart" button, I create a new user instance with a unique ID and username based on that ID. 2. I then save the cart items into the user object and store it in the database. 3. Additionally, I generate a JWT token for the user, which is sent back to the client and saved in local storage. 4. When the same user adds another product to the cart, I send the token back to the server, sign it with JSON Web Token to extract the user ID and username. 5. Using this information, I search for the user in the database and fetch their cart items. 6. If the product already exists in the cart, I update the quantity. Otherwise, I add a new product to the cart. Lastly, I worked on the Notification partial file to alert users when a product has been successfully added to the cart. #coding #tech #100daysofcode #softwaredevelopment

Awesome new partnership between Checkout.com and Google Pay to bring Apple Pay like convenience to online checkout. Initial results show that it is 30% faster => 5ppt increase in auth rates => 3ppt increase in auth success. Pretty impressive initial findings. It's also more secure, so has implications for reducing fraud, which is great. Checkout is just the 1st partner live on Google's new service. Will be interesting to see how roll-out and adoption progresses! Personally, I find myself using Apple Pay more and more these days at checkout. It's so fast! A couple of merchants have asked me to set something like this up for them, and I think it's very useful as it immediately shows the customer important information without them having to click on the arrow, keeping them engaged.
