I love reading about RMI's projects; they always aim to create a sustainable future that also benefits the local community. It's evidence that some of the best results don't come from wide-acting global policy or aggressive system overhaul - sometimes, focusing on the small scale is just as effective! #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergy #ThinkGlobalActLocal

#SmallButMighty    That's the best way to describe the 2 solar+battery storage microgrid projects we commissioned last week in Dominica. These projects will deliver reliable clean power to two schools during normal operations, and provide emergency and evacuation services to the community in the event of major storms or disruptions.    This achievement marks a significant milestone in our journey toward a sustainable and resilient energy future, where we not only reduce our collective carbon footprint but also enhance energy reliability and grid resilience.    These projects are #mighty in telling A Story of Resilience: Both Human Resilience and Energy Resilience. A story of how a community can build back better and stronger. After being severely damaged by Hurricane Maria in 2017, Morne Prosper Primary School and Paix Bouche Primary School were subsequently rebuilt and retrofitted with climate resilience measures that will allow these institutions to provide reliable emergency and evacuation shelters for their communities. That is truly something to be celebrated.   These projects are #mighty in their demonstration of The Power of Partnerships. Made possible through partnership and collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Government of Dominica, Clara Lionel Foundation, and RMI.   These projects are #mighty in providing a Model for the Caribbean and Beyond. The people of Dominca have proven that size doesn't matter. The Dominica Microgrid Projects serves as a proof point for how solar and storage systems can preserve community vibrancy and bolster energy and economic resilience amid intensifying climate-induced hurricanes.   We hope that this will be a catalyst for investing in greater initiatives focused on climate and energy resilience, throughout the Caribbean region and beyond.    Read more in our press release below and with our short video showcasing this project.
