Imagine a future where leveraging a precision approach – identifying the right patient, for the right treatment, at the right time in their treatment journey – becomes the norm to treat neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's. What challenges must we solve to achieve this future? I had the honor of sitting down with Karen Jagoda, host of the Empowered Patient Podcast, to chat about this very topic – addressing the complexities of developing targeted therapies for these diseases. Karen and I had a very insightful conversation around the importance of early detection and intervention to identify patients at specific stages and maximize the potential for precision in treating neurodegenerative diseases. With this approach in mind, I shared how #MyCompany is expanding our understanding of the genetics of these disorders, and our commitment to a patient-centric treatment approach. Want to learn more? Tune in to the full podcast for insights on the future of precision neuroscience and let me know your thoughts in the comments: https://bit.ly/3UhLC92 #PrecisionNeuroscience #AlzheimersDisease #PrecisionMedicine

I can’t say enough good things about @andrewhuberman and #thehubermanlabpodcast. If you’re serious about leveraging neuroscience to optimize your physical and mental health, you likely know about this free resource. The reality is the we need more than free access to quality content. We also need tools that help us cultivate the courage to change. Because without that, we won’t keep showing up with consistency to create lasting change. And DISCIPLINE is a necessary component of behavior modification as well. There are many reasons people struggle to develop discipline like growing up in a family system with a tyrannical authority parent that called the shots and shamed you for making mistakes. There are many reasons people aren’t able to suit up and show up for themselves. It’s not a work ethic problem it’s a self worth problem. Helping people understand what happened to them and how adverse childhood experiences lead to attachment wounds affects more than how we commit and connect in personal relationships. Our family of origin issues shows up in our professional life big time. So if you’re struggling with impostor syndrome or you feel stuck and can’t move forward even with access to the best content like what @thehubermanlabpodcast offers, reach out and let’s connect. Moving forward for many people means it’s time to reflect on how the memos we got growing up and attending to trauma motivated behaviors including addictions of all varieties that numb pain in the short term but in the long run they become another problem to overcome. One addiction that gets rewarded in our society is Workaholism. The reframe is “I’m a super overachiever”. Yup. I see you. I used to engage in those behaviors too. Until my health took a hit. It turns out needing to be busy is a way to avoid being with yourself and your pain. Making money, making lots of money doesn’t make childhood wounds get easier to bare. It just gives you more money to buy more stuff thus creating more ways to distract and avoid pain. I’m all for making profits. Money isn’t evil. But let’s get real about what motivates you. What are you striving for? And why? What happens after you reach a goal? How long can you linger before you have to set another one? Can you sit with yourself? Do you allow spaciousness in your life? How do you attend to your being?
The Huberman Lab podcast is zero-cost and will continue to be zero-cost. We release episodes every Monday and from time to time, and we also release special guest series on Wednesdays. For instance, we did an expert guest series on all aspects of fitness with Dr. Andy Galpin and a four-episode guest series with Dr. Paul Conti on mental health. In addition, we have a premium subscription — Huberman Lab Premium — which consists of "Ask Me Anything’s (AMAs)." We release those monthly, and they are available to anyone for the first 15 or 20 minutes at no cost. However, you need to be a premium member to get the full AMA sessions. Revenue from Huberman Lab Premium, along with a dollar-for-dollar match from the Tiny Foundation, helps to support scientific research in various laboratories. In this video, I explain some of the research and laboratories that we’ve already supported, including work at Stanford University, Stanford University School of Medicine, Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies on topics such as mindset, nutrition, stress management, eating disorders, and stem cells. We only support research on human subjects (not animal models). The goal of this effort is to accelerate the progress of exciting research that stands to improve human mental and physical health and performance. Next year, we will be expanding the amount of support we give and the number of projects and laboratories we support. Meanwhile, I want to thank all Huberman Lab listeners. Whether you subscribe to Huberman Lab Premium or not, you are all helping to support exciting and important research. It’s an honor to collaborate with you! 🧬 Here is an ultimate database like a GPS for navigating the complex landscape of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) at the cellular level. 🧭 Imagine having the power to zoom in on a single cell and understand its role in AD, just like finding your friend in a crowded concert using your phone's location services. That's what this tool, ssREAD offers with its vast data collection from over 7 million cells! 📱➡️🔬 With ssREAD, researchers can now say goodbye to the days of getting lost in translation (literally) and hello to a new era of precision and clarity in AD research. It's like having a library where the books are cells, and every book tells a story that could lead to unlocking the mysteries of Alzheimer's. 📚🔍 Here is ssREAD, the beacon of hope in Alzheimer's research. It maps, provides better navigation, and is one step closer to finding the insights we've been searching for 🥂🧠 p/b The Ohio State University, The Ohio State University College of Medicine, University of Florida, Cankun Wang, Megan McNutt, Jiang Bian, HONGJUN (Harry) FU, Qin Ma #AlzheimersResearch #Innovation https://lnkd.in/gKx7RY2P

🎉 Thrilled to share my latest publication as a second author - a new paper on Alzheimer's disease biomarkers and risk prediction, focusing on the integration of machine learning, computational modeling, and survival analysis. We developed effective imputation models based on clinical measures to infer Alzheimer's disease neuropathological changes and disease burden. We are proud to build on the foundation laid by our first paper in 2022 (https://lnkd.in/eTT-yz_q), to which I contributed as the third author. A heartfelt thank you to my exceptional co-authors from Emory University School of Medicine and Rush University Medicine Center. Your expertise, commitment, and encouragement have been instrumental in our work's success! This research represents a significant step forward in our understanding and approach to this challenging field, and we hope it will pave the way for early detection, intervention, and effective treatments, enabling more individuals to combat Alzheimer's disease with promising outcomes! #AlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersResearch #Dementia #MachineLearning #Biostatistics #EmoryUniversity #RushUniversity

Let’s break it down 👇 ! Now, you know when people say that a talk/vid/whatever, is about a certain type of epilepsy? Well, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t also about YOUR epilepsy/that of the person you love! Because, heaps of what is discovered in research 🧬🧠👨🔬 can contribute to providing answers to potential treatments/solutions for other epilepsies! Today’s Epilepsy Sparks Insights podcast talks about just that! It was focussed on helping people with the #stxbp1 🧬 epilepsy but it just so happens that the results and treatment may also be applicable to helping treat people with other epilepsies like #dravet syndrome 🧬! It’s titled: “Treating Epilepsy By Increasing Neuronal 🧠Excitement!” Yeah, INCREASING excitement! Scientist Jean-François Perrier’s (of the Perrier Lab at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen 🇩🇰) shares with us his wild discovery to hopefully 🤞 be applied in clinical trials at Filadelfia Epilepsihospital og sociale tilbud 🇩🇰 and another in Netherlands 🇳🇱, soon!
