THG has today shared its 2023 Annual Report - with positive results across the Group. I'm particularly proud to share that THG's sustainability efforts are making significant strides, and the work that our team is putting in is speaking for itself. 🤝   Here are some of the numbers:   ♻ Our use of renewable energy is up from 63% to 66% across all our operational sites. 📉 We've further decreased our Scope 3 emissions (the most challenging of the three scopes) by 9.4% compared to 2022, and we're continuing to make reductions. 📦 A brilliant 91% of our packaging across the Group is recyclable - and we're on track to make 100% of our own-brand packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025. 💚 In 2023, across our workforce we're proud to have 51% female representation and 28% ethnic minority representation - and we will continue to improve our equity, diversity, and inclusion. 🌱 We launched our Sustainability Ambassadors Network, and now have a 50-strong team of sustainability ambassadors across the group, and continue to grow.   Of course, the work doesn't stop here! Having recently announced our PACT initiative, a big focus is collaborating with our key stakeholders and suppliers to enhance transparency throughout the supply chain. Earlier this month I discovered something about THG founder and CEO Matthew Moulding that I'd strongly suspected - he writes his own LinkedIn blogs. I know this sounds obvious but you'd be surprised how many high profile entrepreneurs get their posts written by someone else. I knew Moulding wrote his own blogs because I haven't met a PR who would use the term 'bag of spanners' (see previous blog). Footballers who get someone else to write their social media posts is a personal bugbear of mine because it's so obviously not them. Be authentic. Own your words. The reason this is so important is Moulding has written about THG's financial results for 2023. Critics would highlight THG's losses in 2023 of £252m but a fairer summary would point out losses in 2022 were £549.7m. However, check out Moulding's comments. "It’s been brutal running THG these past two years," he wrote. “Any consumer-facing business knows exactly how lively it’s been since the start of 2022 – carnage. “At THG, it’s felt like a F1 race, but on a track covered with thick fog, torrential rain, crashes, potholes, and cheating track marshals!" It's really raw and if it turns out ChatGPT wrote the blog then we're all in trouble. :)

🏆 At Eco Tiny House we do employee of the Q, instead of employee of the month. The awarded colleague receives a wood-carved personalized gift, named ECO-CKA (in Hungarian it is a funny name) with an important sentence: "Keep building" 👨🔧 I suggest that this memo helps us to build a reinforcing and #positive company #culture in more than one way. 👨👩👧👦 Enhances team spirit. First, the allocation of the ECO-CKA is based on employee votes. Until now, when I saw my colleagues joy, receiving the award, I was genuinely happy for them. Why? Because I want them to be strong and motivated. I need the best version of each teammate so we can grow. Receiving the ECO-CKA myself was special. It makes me feel that my colleagues want me to be #strong and #motivated 🤠 Recognize role models. Our commercial strategy for 2024 is ambitious to say the least. On our crusade to hit international sales targets we need classis role models in our commercial team who can remain 100% focused whatever distractions arise in the organization. 🏎 Encourage high performance. The award makes it obvious that our culture finds it cool and sexy to push hard. This creates a healthy, supportive environment where company and individual goals are going to be achieved. This was my complicated way of saying thank you Eco Tiny House and every partner of Eco Tiny House.

Environmental and social responsibility have become key elements for a brand to make a positive impact. We are now seeing a shift in focus and interest, where most of the consumers have become more interested in areas like sustainability, diversity and inclusion, and social responsibility. To appeal to different audiences, brands need to align their values with their audiences’ values. While it's important for brands to communicate about sustainability and social initiatives, what is more important for consumers is for a brand to embody these values in its actions. Brands need to show how they are driving a positive change in society. For example, if a brand claims that it supports diversity and inclusion, it has to embody these values among its employees. If a brand claims that it supports sustainability, it should be implementing sustainable practices within its operations. Exciting strides in ESG at Neiman Marcus Group (NMG)! Their third annual progress report showcases a remarkable 21 percent of its leadership roles — vice president and higher — are now occupied by racially diverse people. That compares to 18.2 percent in fiscal 2021. The goal is for 28 percent of leadership roles to be occupied by diverse employees by 2030. Notably, NMG remarkably extended the lifespan of 1 million luxury items, two years ahead of schedule, through alterations, repairs, resale, and donations.   CEO, Geoffroy van Raemdonck attributes increased diversity to evidence-based practices, while their flexible workplace policy boosted retention by 4% and hiring time was reduced by 10%. NMG's impactful partnerships with the Fashion Scholarship Fund and National Minority Supplier Development Council both aim to certify 25 diverse-owned suppliers this year.   Recognized for excellence, NMG scored perfectly on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index for the second year, and it's a top retailer for disability inclusion on the Disability Equality Index. Setting it apart as the first and only luxury retail partner among 4,000+ global businesses, their commitment is fortified to the Science Based Targets initiative.   Van Raemdonck emphasizes NMG's unique role as an integrated retailer to drive positive change within their workforce, stores, and the broader industry. Kudos to NMG for leading the way! #ESGProgress #RetailSustainability #DiversityandInclusion #amsterdamassociates

You must be rather foolish Matthew Moulding of THG to write such an ill-considered LinkedIn post earlier today of some 'Coherent & Stable Business Strategy' you sadly like to believe you have because to others its very bizarre and incredibly worrying to say the least following your rather lacklustre first quarter update today but I'm loving all the financial creativity in your interims once again of trying to elude investors or some may say the 'Fateful' hey! ...So THG, your beauty arm has seen 'Inorganic' revenue growth of 9% YoY without currency depreciation (which by the way other listed companies know how to accomodate accordingly so is it more of passing the blame onto anything to save your bacon!) yet it makes no profit and Nutrition is seeing growth fall by a whopping 9% and is clearly regressing and continues to with those live metrics you struggle to interpret with all your forecasting but as I've told you in the past it was to be expected not like the blatant lies of Nadia Georgieva who told the masses in her most recent LinkedIn post about how the tripe was seeing seven digit incremental growth hehe! ...In addition, significant sums have already been spent by the tripe to not only keep prices low and build brand loyalty but also sponsoring a mediocre formula one team which were all meant to provide the impetus to Myproteins future growth ambitions so what happened hey...Surely it's not that competition is rife across the board and your underlying markets have become so highly saturated with now even Amazon joining the par'tay and then you haven't got a chance in hell with thinking you're the 'Numero Uno' Nutrition company globally! ...And then we have THG Ingenuity which can't quite get that 'Long-awaited' whale the 'Fateful' have patiently been waiting for (three years and counting now is it!) but likes to prematurely celebrate to the market with achieving some non-entity with all that inconsequential GMV of brewsters millions! ...Ohh by the way, even a 'Dog of a Stock' has its day in the sun sometimes THG so enjoy it while you can because this is destined for the scrapyard to salvage anything it can get in future with all its frivolous spending of the past, make no bloody mistake!
