James Chorley’s Post

Getting back into the “swing of things” (Slowly). I would like to apologize to anyone I Commanded, worked alongside, worked for, with or in any other configuration. Parenting is way harder than I thought it would be!

For clarity I will say what I believe to be the way forward for the CAF. First - revision of CF education system (close Toronto and move it to either Ottawa or Kingston). Second - Buy from the Americans (or Brits) enough gear to create 3 equal battle groups. Third - solve the Airborne conundrum by (re)creating the Airborne regiment (as marines). Place them on the west coast. 4th solve the supply-chain conundrum.

One word - Lethality. Great news on a number of fronts. The RCAF has racked up the wins on capability over the last year. Congrats to BGen Chris McKenna, and the entire team that made this happen. See comments for link.

Hi James, interesting solutions. I'm curious about your thoughts on: - How would those battle groups be configured if they are all equal: heavy armour BGs, mixed (heavy and light battalions within the BG), etc. - By marines do you mean a specialized expeditionary force? I wonder about procuring the sealift, or are they made air mobile? The French Mistral class ships offered an interesting means of delivering and supporting such a force. - Most importantly, who will write the White Paper with the vision that aligns these efforts?
