We are selective when it comes to hiring. We seek employees that exemplify our core principles (integrity, collaboration, constant innovation, engaging culture and service excellence). The interns we hire are no different. Every year, we are blown away with the work these interns complete and the connections we make, with many returning for a career with Packet Digital.
This summer we decided to highlight our current group of interns and share the projects each of them are working on. Each week we will feature an intern, with the first up being Henry Munnich.
Name: Henry Munnich
Title: Manufacturing Engineer Intern
Hometown: North Minneapolis
School: North Dakota State University
Degree field: B.S. in Industrial Engineering & Management
What projects are you working on this summer?
A lot. On the Kraus project, I’ve done process engineering and improvement, build instructions, purchasing, battery serial number tracking initiative, build assistance and training people to build. Elsewhere, I’ve successfully mounted a manual welding machine onto a computer-controlled system, built a large storage container, ran the safety line and got it perfectly straight, production floor organization, Indago 4 charger build instructions and assistance, safety signage, documented internal build tracker application so anybody can pick it up and maintain it in the future. I also maintain a binder of all the Safety Data Sheets for chemicals in the building.
What skills have you improved since you began your internship with Packet Digital?
I have learned a ton about process engineering, business, and management of a manufacturing floor. I started within a month of the new manufacturing facility opening and there has been so much groundwork being laid, it was really surprising how well my classes applied. I get to implement systems that I learned about like 5S audits. I have really improved my building skills and technical writing. I have also improved my prioritization skills because there are so many unknowns as we build momentum as an organization. I have also learned about testing battery packs and the engineering that goes into creating the test fixtures.
What are you most excited to learn about for the remainder of your internship?
I am most excited to learn more about the new battery manufacturing plant we are creating. But I am also excited to learn more about the upcoming projects we have and help to improve our processes so we can scale their production.
