Mr Burns - Have you worked for a Mr Burns? Let’s be truthful – we all found Mr Burns on the Simpsons hilarious – but in reality what can we learn for our #leadership from Mr Burns. In short Mr Burns (or Charles Montgomery Burns): 🦹 owned the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant 🦹 was Homer’s boss but couldn’t remember Homer’s name  🦹 had sidekick Mr Smithers who agreed with everything he did 🦹 was obsessed with increasing his wealth and power 🦹 did not care about his staff’s #safety and #wellbeing   🦹 had a trademark expression of ‘excellent’ while playing with his fingertips  🦹 would ‘release the hounds’ (guard dogs) to remove intruders and guests  🦹 used his power and money to do whatever he wanted without consequences 🦹 was rated by Rolling Stone magazine as the 8th greatest TV villain of all time. What can we learn from Mr Burn’s leadership –  ❌ don’t surround yourself with people who will agree with you ✅ do surround yourself with people who will challenge you and bring a different perspective to build #innovation ❌ don’t let a desire for wealth and power drive you ✅ do be driven by your #purpose and make it something that adds #value to others  ✅ do invest in your team’s safety and wellbeing  ✅ do treat your team as people – take the time to get to know them and remember their names The short film shows time when Mr Burns forgot Homer's name.
