More planning frustrations as the Planning Appeals Commission confirms it will not commence until 2025/26, on cases not associated with Dalradian Public Inquriy. This will impact delivery times for a number of renewable applications severely effecting our ability to meet the 80% by 2030 renewables target. We need an Accelerating Renewables Taskforce to look at the barriers to new renewable deployment including planning issues that impact generation and grid infrastructure. A very interesting 2 days at the floating offshore wind conference from RenewableUK. My key takeaways were:   -Floating offshore wind power provides access to 70% of wind capacity. There is a lot of positivity on floating despite recent setbacks; however, sponsors need a clear long-term strategy from the government and a mature supply chain. -Innovation was the most repeated word during the workshops. Innovation to bring simplicity, reliability and scalability across the whole value chain and in particular for O&M activities; this will ultimately bring life cycle cost, reliability and asset availability to a competitive level.   #floatingoffshore #energytransition #renewables #FloatingWind23

Green Volt, the first commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm, has just gained planning approval! Situated off the Scottish coast, the wind farm will consist of 35 floating turbines, providing over half a Gigawatt of renewable energy.
