I’m against this post so badly. This is so misleading and misconception. You can’t differentiate these two like two sides of the coin. Lots of aspects of Marketing in the post are completely wrong.

This post highlights some differences between branding and marketing, but it is fundamentally flawed and misleading. Branding and brand management are already encompassed within the broader discipline of marketing. Marketing involves all activities related to promoting and selling a product or service, and branding is a crucial part of these activities. Branding and marketing are not independent of each other; they are complementary processes. Marketing strategies include both long-term and short-term planning, aiming to create brand value and increase customer loyalty. Marketing also contributes to the creation of brand identity, working in conjunction with branding efforts. Ultimately, branding and marketing achieve the best results when they work together. Separating these concepts completely ignores the holistic nature of the marketing discipline.

Instead of “Branding” I do prefer “brand management” as a term. 💡 As “Branding” is often associated with the initial basic tasks of brand management: namely the development of a brand name, the marking (“branding iron”) and in a the broader sense the development of a corporate (or product) design. This leads to a lot of misunderstanding between people managing a brand (e.g. “ambidextrous brand management”) and the rest of the corporate world. 🤯 What do you think?🤔 🫵🏼

While I am not a marketer or a brand specialist, with the limited knowledge I possess, this appears to be misleading. I am surprised to see this posted here. Ultimately, branding and marketing should not be viewed as distinct entities but rather as interconnected facets of a comprehensive strategy, shouldn’t they?

I’m going to disagree on how marketing is defined. Marketing is overarching, strategic (not only tactical), and it’s truly your business plan.

Good insight! Branding is "You" - It's the essence of your company, its values, personality, and the promise it makes. Marketing is spreading the word, but it's more than just a bullhorn. It's crafting a compelling story that connects with your audience on an emotional level, making them believe your brand is the "you" they need in their lives.
