Jane Sarasohn-Kahn’s Post

Most U.S. consumers are making food purchase decisions based on various (perceived and hoped-for) health benefits, such as boosting energy, managing gut and heart-health, and aging healthfully. You'll learn more updating your perspectives on #foodasmedicine from the 19th annual International Food Information Council (IFIC) study into Food and Health 2024, which I cover in detail in the latest Health Populi blog. New to this year's study are expanded insights into U.S. consumers' views on #weightloss drugs (the #GLP1s etc.) and important perspectives on peoples' sense of #financialhealth and #stress -- which can impact consumers' food purchases (think: snacking, emotional eating, and of course prices at the #grocerystore). I connect the dots on physical and fiscal health, as well as weave in the latest USDA study on #foodsecurity and #SNAP benefits in FY2023. Also, you'll discover some good data points on consumers growing use of #digitalhealth and #healthapps along with #AI to inform food and nutrition decision making. Health is wealth and wealth, health, we continue to learn -- and food is part of that equation. Thanks to Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RDN Kris Sollid, RD as well as Jenny Phillips who keeps me in IFIC's radar (thank you!) cc Ashley Koff RD Cary Greenberg MSc Michelle Segar Lisa Suennen, GCB.D with heart health on my mind #healthyeating #SDoH #socialdeterminants #financialwellness #healthconsumers #retailhealth #selfcare #nutrition #homecare #digitalhealth #AIhealth https://lnkd.in/gAW3c3tt

From what I can see, Kroger and their Kroger Health team are out in front on this food=health opportunity. Geisinger in PA is also doing some ground-breaking work. Who are you watching, Jane? 🤔
