Corporate Vice President, AI at Work @ Microsoft | Predicting, shaping and innovating for the future of work | Tech optimist

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to talk with The Wall Street Journal about some of the challenges that come along with integrating AI tools like #Copilot into the workplace. From data integrity to establishing entirely new ways of working as individuals and teams, it’s clear becoming an AI-powered organization isn’t as simple as flipping a switch. But at #Microsoft, we’re helping customers along their AI journey, step-by-step. We’re sharing learnings and missteps from our own AI adoption efforts, and delivering tools like Copilot Studio, unlocking customers’ ability to customize and extend Copilot to meet the unique needs of their business. Like with any new technology, weaving AI into the fold of your organization will take some time, and there undoubtedly be bumps in the road. But the long-term benefits for the #FutureOfWork are immense.

Getting LLMs to provide consistent/accurate data is a developing science. For reasons beyond Copilot, it helps to purge old data and promote the current file as the source of truth. I thought, Jared, that Viva Topics was a beacon of hope there... wondering what's coming to improve on that? Meantime, I love this chart showing when it's feasible (and ideal) to rollout #CopilotForMicrosoft365 based on data protection and hygiene considerations. Until an org gets to the bottom left, results will vary!

Two important action areas for #HR and #business_intelligence teams, that I totally agree with and both go back to the old saying “shit in - shit out”: 1️⃣ companies need to be #training employees on AI (esp #prompting and giving specific context so the ai can research better). Otherwise: shit in - shit out. It is similar to a leader learning how to delegate and brief a task to a (medium-smart) teammate 😉 2️⃣ companies need to be #cleaning up data sources within the company which fuel the #ai (again: shit in, shit out)
