🤔⚡ When you think of kites, do you think of #GreenElectricity? Probably not (yet). 🔌🌪 However, in Northern Germany, residents from four municipalities can sometimes see a red-and-white striped kite gliding across the sky. The kite belongs to SkySails Group, which operates a test for #AirborneWindEnergy in the region. Airborne wind energy uses kites to harvest higher-altitude winds for renewable energy. 🏘🌟 Given how novel airborne wind energy still is, little is known about how residents experience the technology. Building such knowledge is important because it can help adjust the design and deployment of an AWES to fit locals' needs better. As a result, the technology's burden on people would decrease, and its successful contribution to the energy transition would increase. 🔎📃 To address this knowledge gap, I set out with my supervisors and colleagues from MSH Medical School Hamburg to survey residents living around the SkySails test site.
