Last week, the Annual Health System Conference was held on June 18, 2024, at the ICC Jerusalem. The conference featured opening remarks by journalist Linoy Bar-Geffen, President Isaac Herzog, and Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion. Notable sessions included: Health System Challenges: Discussions led by Prof. Zion Hagay and Prof. Yoram Weiss on the current state and future directions of healthcare. Rehabilitation Challenges: Insights from Dr. Roni Maor and Prof. Isabella Schwartz on trauma treatment and the resilience of rehabilitation centers. Impact of Substance Abuse on Resilience and Recovery: Presented by Prof. Shauli Lev-Ran. Mental Health Preparedness: An in-depth panel discussion on the readiness of the mental health system, featuring Dr. Gilad Bodnheimer and other experts. Public Health: Addressing addiction and post-trauma care during wartime by Adv. Yasmin Nahum. Human Resources in Healthcare: Prof. Ronni Gamzu and other leaders discussed the critical issue of workforce shortages in the health system. AI in Healthcare: Explored by Prof. Iris Barshack and other technology and medical experts. The event concluded with sessions on leadership in healthcare during crises, featuring insights from Brigadier General (Res.) Prof. Elon Glazberg and other prominent figures. Digital Mental Health Technology: User and Public Perspectives The UK Wellcome Trust has funded a 3-year project focusing on effective regulation and evaluation of digital mental health technology (DMHT). The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency is leading this project in partnership with NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. This first report explores attitudes and perceptions towards DMHTs, including the potential risks and benefits of these technologies, and their applicability in the current context of mental health care and support. #Digital_health #Mental_health #Regulation

Important update on interim report “This strategic framework concludes by setting out how we intend to best concentrate efforts. This necessitates difficult choices. But learning from our conversations to date, we think we can make the most difference in the following 5 areas which will have the greatest collective impact across all the conditions: 1) rebalancing the health and care system, over time, towards a personalised approach to prevention through the management of risk factors 2) embedding early diagnosis and treatment delivery in the community 3) managing multiple conditions effectively - including embedding generalist and specialist skills within teams, organisations and individual clinicians 4) seeking much closer alignment and integration between physical and mental health services 5) shaping services and support around the lives of people, giving them greater choice and control where they need and want it and real clarity about their choices and next steps in their care”

Our latest #MentalHealth funding call will award up to £4 million for projects that focus on understanding how anxiety- and trauma-related problems develop, persist and resolve. What do we want to see from applications? We want to fund research that's informed by the priorities and needs of people with lived experience. We've also identified two priorities for this funding based on what we think will have the greatest impact: 🟢 Research that considers questions at more than one level of explanation, such as molecular, cognitive or societal. 🟢 Research is in low- and middle-income country contexts.
