Epic's new Project Avalanche looks like the closest thing to recreating what I loved about Flash: Real-time 2D/3D/vector graphics with a powerful timeline, blend modes, motion tools and more. Avalanche is already being used in TV broadcasts, and I could see this bringing a big boost to Unreal Engine in the experiential installation space, especially for content- and UI-focused experiences. With Project Avalanche and Niagara fluids, Unreal Engine is all set to disrupt the motion design industry. Combining the layer based workflow of Adobe After effects, the cloner systems like that of Cinema 4D and real-time fluid simulations this can become a game changer.
