The game isn't changing, the game has changed. The time isn't coming, the time has come.
If your business isn't really doing much in the way of implementing a smart data-play then it might not be today or tomorrow but soon enough you'll have the rug pulled out and you won't know where it got pulled from but you'll sure know it got pulled.
Right now, everyone is on about AI – and rightly so, it's our generation's printing press, and then some.
But what's the one thing that AI is leveraging that makes it what it is?
Data.
That's all it's leveraging – data with really smart ways of distilling and compilation based on prompt engineering and so on. But make no mistake, data is what makes AI the dark horse for the future we're all seeing that it'll be.
If you aren't on the AI bandwagon at the moment there's another rug coming for you there too... but assuming you are then your data-strategy should be going hand-in-hand with it to make sure you're really rug-proof.
What inspired my post was a McKinsey & Company article about the power of data in sales where surgical approaches to analytics was the lynchpin behind significant growth and performance enhancements for more than 1,000 surveyed companies.
Now the kicker: that article was written in 2016 – pre any form AI as we know it.
