I really like the premise of this leadership concept. Doing the little things every day is hard--at work, at home, at the gym, etc. Years ago I would read leadership materials and try to follow every step of a model. Interacting with my managers and team members taught me to be more human and less model. The best leaders try to get better every day by consistently doing the little things like listening, adapting, and learning. What have you learned along the way?

I had the opportunity to sit down with a Rear Admiral this morning, a high-ranking military leader who has profoundly impacted the Navy over his 34-year career. His best advice? Invest in your people. When you invest in your people, they’ll be invested in you. They’ll win for you. When you have a goal or mission and the system acts as a barrier, find a way to win.
