UT is 28% Mexican descent (great job), 4% black if football team is on campus, over 50% Caucasian females. Over 4 thousand blacks accepted but refuse to attend. I still don't know what this kind of diversity is. https://lnkd.in/gEpjuqDz

I lost my job in DEI at UT. Here’s my message to conservatives.

There is now 6k who did not attend over the last 5 years. The private schools just give them full scholarships in America. Because of court cases against blacks, not diversity, or Hopwood case. Diversity is really for certified white behavioral and gender groups. Nothing wrong with that. We are raising 70m for black, not diverse students. Things change

Amen brother. They are not doing the hard work to recruit and stay with the kids from the inner city. They are more interested in virtue signaling. We need many more black students to thrive at UT. DEI isn't and wasn't getting the job done. Get back to work. Get out of the bubble echo chamber. Get into the junior and high schools and show these kids what can be. Excite them. Mentor them.

Since their sites were taken down, the success stories aren't visible. Being unable to speak in defense of your programs is problematic. She makes great points about the value her office provided to the organization. Regarding the 4000 who "refused to attend," that begs for documentation and context, and indicates an organizational representation issue. Is the other 16 pct unaccounted for in your percentages white males? If so, why are so few of them at this campus? What percentage are football players, on sport scholarships?

We need some truth tellers. Some of these responses seemed to be framed in the mistruth of The Lost Cause. Look at the enrollment data for the last ten years and the history of UT. This notion that have lost something is theme that fueled the angry white male sentiments that fuel the Bakke decision. Again we need truth tellers who understand the causality and present implications for what is taking place. Just saying!

I do not care how many whites, Mexicans, blacks or any other manufactured tribal identity is represented at UT or beyond, so long as individuals from those groups are given equal opportunity to attend.

Not sure I follow all this change but I feel things have changed and the more things change the more things stay the same….
