Researchers at JILA, a US institute, have developed an incredibly accurate light-based atomic clock. This clock is so precise it can verify Einstein’s theory of general relativity and revolutionize how we measure time. Unlike traditional microwave clocks, this optical clock uses an optical lattice to observe thousands of atoms, and it can remain precise for 30 billion years, potentially losing only one second. This amazing technology could redefine the second, help discover underground minerals, and improve quantum computing and space navigation. The clock can detect gravity’s impact on time at submillimeter scales, pushing the boundaries of measurement science. “This clock is so precise that it can detect tiny effects predicted by theories such as general relativity, even at the microscopic scale,” said NIST and JILA physicist Jun Ye. “It’s pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with timekeeping.” #clock #Atomic #AtomicClocks

The study used Frontier, the HPE Cray EX supercomputing system at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, to predict the likeliest strategy to synthesize such a material, thought to exist only within the interiors of giant exoplanets, or planets beyond our solar system – at least so far. Frontier’s exascale speeds of more than 1 quintillion calculations per second brought the goal within reach for the first time. Our latest work out as a preprint - https://lnkd.in/e679gS62 - we reinterpret the quantum states of molecules and transitions between them as a graph. This allows us to use fast graph-based search methods to detect laser cooling schemes in complex molecules in an automated way. We test our approach with C2, OH+, CN, YO, and CO2 and detect thousands of laser cooling schemes, including known ones from previous manual searches, but the vast majority of them so far unknown! Manual searches are much slower and suffer from human bias. Conceptually the change of perspective - viewing quantum states and their transitions as a graph - should be broadly applicable and might help finding quantum control schemes for other quantum systems with discrete spectra. We are extremely curious to see how this method can be applied to other use cases. Let us know your thoughts! Our twin publications introducing virtual quantum distillation are online just in time for the Lunar New Year! The works highlight that in many situations, we want quantum resources not for the resource itself but for its use in enhanced quantum computation. In such scenarios, there may not be a necessity to synthesize the resource direction but rather synthesize 'virtual' versions that can mimic its original statistics. "The road built by vacuum" part 2 Ok this was the ideas: if a nucleic imbalance of a certain type pulls energy from the vacuum like this, then in stable nuclei, this channel is present, but normative, and available for manipulation, not to take from the vacuum ( that for another era of ideas) but the road the vacuum takes, to send and receive information, and compute at a level that is much higher than upon which the error phased qubit conceptionality can be structured.For now we wouldn't have to recreate beta decay without the decay and simply try to shove it into a computer design, but rather the quantum paths available from the literalized grading of energy coming in from the vacuum during beta decay can be analogued in stable nuclei that can comprise the components of a much better type quantum computer than we think is possible today. How would we, with a positive control, calculate, mathematically predict these effects given that data can demonstrate their culmination and the steps along the way that being them to fruition? Given the fact that the time/energy uncertainty principle allows for the existence of the heavy W boson under conditions, to get at the mechanics of distribution from vacuum to particle we would have to the realistic latitude of the uncertainty, both it's upper and lower bounds: heisenberg's uncertainty principle combined with key principles from Max Planck and Einstein, indicates that uncertainty collapses at the Planck scale. the uncertainty principle becomes the certainty principle, which inspired the line of thought that the universe operates like an infinite set, with it's lowest cardinal point being the planck scale, and of course the literal gradationing observable in beta decay follows here, with Planck time being the lowest cardinality, it being the most 'virtual' of the big four Planck units, time, length, mass, and temperature.Consequentially, from what we know by the evidence that quantum mechanics provides, a complexer cardination perspective of how physical energy is situated to be able to operate is true and noncontradictory. Infinitizing the Planck scales will allow us to track the vacuum indirectly. Recently Nature had an article out, reviewing 3 recent papers, 2 of them using Cryogenically cooled vacancy center memories (TUDelft, Harvard) and 1 laser cooled atomic memory (USTC). All 3 work had one thing in common and it was the type of their entanglement protocol, known as DLCZ. DLCZ is super cool because it allows you to use photonic states such as |01>, basically an entanglement between something and nothing! It results in much higher rate than other types of qubits but it is incredibly more sensitive to the environmental effect. That's because, in the simplest yet somehow strangest words, you need to be able to distinguish your nothing state from all the other nothingness out there in the environment! That's why my favorite ones is the work at TUDelft, since they actually did this over real separated nodes, vs the work from Harvard which minimized this issue by using a fiber loop (but of course much less useful). DLCZ works based on platforms where a matter system is entangled with the |01> photon, and the matter must be able to preserve the state long enough for the photon to arrive at the destination. That's why often all of the best research institutes use the most sophisticated technologies. Which brings us to today's paper: Same protocol, same capabilities, could have been done using a fully room temperature atomic memory with a millisecond coherence time! very similar coherence time to all the 3 work mentioned above. This is a very good example of how high-end journals that are very citation focused like Nature and Science only publish very sophisticated, state of the art scientific works while often amazingly practical platforms ends up in less visible journals. Because practicality demands simplicity.
The Augment" part 2 ...Planck time is our shortest spate of time in quantum mechanics, reconceptualized here as the totality of the energetic sum of the universe in a homogenously nonlocal state, thus the universe is objectively nontransformative, but from the observer perspective, subjectively transformative (quite corrective, yet not dismissive of the big bang cosmology scenario). Our concepts, our experientiality of time and the structure quantitativity, size, universal scale, energetic magnitudinality, etc, are reduced to a nonlocal energetic capacity that intrinsically achieves totalistic energetic exaction. Planck time is mathematically formulated as such. It is formulated as the lowest cardinal point in an infinite set, that bases all following cardinates.This leads to Planck time being considered intrinsic structural value of any element, i.e. all existable states and potential states apparent as the physical universe, supralinearized based on how they appear in time and space, presently, and across time, where the earliest states of the universe, and the latest states are of complex cardinal separation, ( from the observer perspective of course, in which the universe is in a flux of quantitative evolution from a start onwards to a finish). Once we formulate the universe as an infinite set precisely under the latitudes allowed by the axioms of Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory, the logical structural relations therein defines a symmetrical thetic for the the infinite set, that is mathematicalised into augmentive equations, either subsequent, or presequent to the attaining of the result garnered from a given existing equation used to describe the Planck scale, or equations used to describe anything in the universe.
