Confession time: College me totally underestimated the power of professional wrestling. A friend, a true believer, dragged me to Wrestlemania, and let me tell you - it was epic. Soap opera theatrics and acrobatic fighting, what's not to love? Beyond the entertainment value, it's fascinating to consider the significant economic impact such events have on local communities. A recent report by the St. Pete Catalyst highlighted that January's Royal Rumble event alone injected over $47 million into the St. Petersburg economy. This is a testament to the power of events like this and how they ultimately support small and medium-sized businesses while fostering growth within our local community. Have you ever been embarrassed in front of everyone you know 🤡 ? I'm talking IRL, all your family and friends there to witness your utter failure while all the naysayers smile contently? Well, a long time ago we had this basketball game in Dayton where some famous kid from #Akron came to town to play and let's just say it was a one-sided contest (not in our favor 🤣) After you take a 50+ point a** whopping on your home court, some things start to become clear: It either fuels you or burns you up 🔥 You see what you did wrong and use it as fuel to fix the weakness. or you get fixed on what you did wrong and burn yourself down.  But the obstacle is the way right Ryan Holiday?! 📖 So, back then we licked our wounds and got better. We analyzed our competition, worked on our individual skills and figured out how to click as a team to make sure it was a game the next time, because we knew where they were going and figured we would just meet them there in the State Finals. Long story short: we were up 5 at halftime in the Finals against Lebron with 25,000 people shocked in #columbus #ohio. We ended up losing by 4, not reaching our goal of victory and realizing that you can't fight destiny sometimes. But it was a cool journey and old man sounding story I tell the kids excitedly sometimes. My point is: It's 2024, we have taken a few licks to get here in #cannabis and a lot of people have never stopped putting in the work because that's all they know how to do. Let's go on a run this year (as we call it in #basketball); let's take the losses, utilize the hard work put in and get back into the arena for another round. The game is getting bigger than ever, and the stakes are consistently increasing: what more could we ask for as an industry 🙃? (all jokes aside, that arena is all we wanted for 70+ years, just to have a legal playing field and chance to play the "legit" game). Let's all go out and find some Dragons to slay in 2024 before they keep growing bigger. Shoutout to Dustin Hoxworth for inspiring this reminiscent sports post and keeping the positive messages alive in cannabis for us all (📣 Fat Nugs Magazine).
