Jeff Goddard’s Post

I’ve been away from Enterptise Software for just long enough to gain a more objective perspective. There’s a bit too much emphasis on the platform and tech, instead of the functionality. IMO

It’s always a bigger challenge to change the work process and habits of professionals. New features and tech might drive initial adoption, but accepting a system as the rule takes time. Years after a successful implementation, we still find individuals keeping ad-hoc spreadsheets alive for important analysis and decision making, despite those same metrics being stored and generated in the ERP/HRMS core software.

Jeff Goddard You mean the functionality actually matters? Wow, who’d a thunk it. It’s an old arguement we’ve both fought with for years. I keep harping on it with all the new hires I train, and talk culture in DevOps if you expect to be successful. We can make the technology do a lot of things, but if the people don’t use it, why do it?

Completely agree. As I’m looking for a new role, all the years of HRIS implementation, upgrade and bau are trumped by Workday certification. Yet audit teams are most concerned about data privacy, proper controls and risk mitigation. So much for deep industry and functional knowledge.
