Another important milestone for the MCED and cancer screening field, as we advance toward broader access and availability. We are excited to announce First Participant In for REACH! A huge thanks to the #GRAIL team, and our CHN partner Patrick McGill, MD MBA and many others… an unprecedented study! Real-world Evidence to Advance Multi-Cancer Early Detection Health Equity (REACH) is a three-year Galleri-Medicare study to evaluate the impacts of multi-cancer early detection (MCED) testing for up to 50,000 Medicare beneficiaries. Now, GRAIL has enrolled its first participant in the study with Community Health Network, an integrated healthcare system in Indiana. This study’s focus on the Medicare population allows us to work with participants from racial and ethnic minorities and seniors from historically underserved communities. Cancer risk increases with age, and more than half of all cancer diagnoses are among Medicare beneficiaries, so we're hopeful this study will continue to reveal MCED testing's potential in cancer screening, especially for populations most in need. We are excited to see these new ctDNA data published, with Samsung Medical Center, AstraZeneca, Darren Hodgson, et al; check it out! This study represents an important contribution to future clinical applications of methylation-based cell-free DNA assays. It provides: ➡️ Additional validation of how circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) shedding correlates with PET avidity and tumor volume ➡️ Prognostic insights among a large early stage lung population ➡️ New insights on how ctDNA detection correlated with higher PD-L1 expression in tumors The findings support the possible integration of ctDNA testing into routine diagnostic workflows in early-stage non-small cell #LungCancer (NSCLC). This testing could be particularly useful in identifying high-risk patients who might benefit from innovative treatments. Stay tuned for more, and check out the the full study:

With #ASCO24 wrapping up, I wanted to share a few GRAIL highlights from this year’s congress: ➡️ We showed the potential of adding multi-cancer early detection (MCED) testing to standard-of-care screening for finding cancer recurrence and new primary cancers among cancer survivors ➡️ We also shared data showcasing how adding MCED testing may increase diagnostic efficiency and reduce the time to cancer diagnosis among Medicare patients. Beyond the expansive exchange of information, every year ASCO provides a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues across the industry on our shared goal to fight cancer. I’m proud to be part of this team, and looking forward to seeing what we accomplish together next.

#AI in medicine is a hot topic! Thanks to Stand Up To Cancer, Julian Adams, Margaret Foti and exceptional moderator Peter Sorger for an insightful AI innovation summit; it was an honor to present! The impact of AI/ML in the diagnostic field is decades old, starting in radiology and extending to high dimensional NGS diagnostic data for cancer and many other diseases… it’s great to see new Gen AI interest catalyzing greater trust and acceptance of this true transformation in medicine! Kudos to Christina Curtis on presenting new data about the potential role of host ‘Germline Epitope Burden’ predicting cancer risk; it was fun to hear about the challenges and early insights of leveraging real world EHR data for pancreatic cancer risk prediction by Chris Sander and the rising star Adam Yala impressed us with new AI applications for breast and lung cancer screening. I love to see math and science integrated for patient impact… the future is bright!

Kudos to Jordan Karlitz MD, FACG, AGAF, Eric Klein, and coauthors for this new case series describing real-world implementation of multi-cancer early detection! These early cancers detected by the Galleri blood test are challenging to detect early and are not covered by current USPSTF screening guidelines.
