Annoyance If you are pushy and annoying, chances are you are turning off prospects. Who wants to do business with someone who makes them anxious or angry? Consider your co-workers, too. Teamwork boosts sales, yet your teammates may be keeping you out of the loop if you constantly annoy them. Few people want to do favors for or business with anyone they find annoying. Observe how you act, and be careful not to annoy. Get a person you trust to give you feedback. Be open to change. It might just help your sales.

• It's not "selling" holding your sales back, it's something else • It's not "teamwork" holding your team back, it's something else • It's not "features" holding your product back, it's something else • It's not "follower count" holding your impact back, it's something else • It's not "that one smart thing you just heard about" holding you or your company back, it's something else Too often we attack a problem head on. The more we attack it, the more resistant it is. Take a step back. Then one to the side. Get some smart people to look at the other angles. Not people who are looking at the problem head-on next to you, but people who have gotten past it already and can see the other side. • Lack of sales is not primarily caused by the number of reps, it's bad product-market fit, focus, or positioning. Get it right THEN focus on more reps MIGHT help • Terrible team dynamics is not primarily caused by bad teamwork, it's lack of trust, alignment, and culture. Get it right THEN a focus on teamwork MIGHT help • Your product doesn't need more features. It needs ONE killer feature that your market loves. Get it right, THEN adding more MIGHT help • 1,000,000 random people barely listening to you is not as impactful as "1,000 true believers." Get it right THEN adding numbers MIGHT help It also might not. It's rarely the convenient, sexy, shiny object that's between you and success. It's something boring, basic, and hard. Find that. What if you love your sales job and you're good at it, but you don't get as much attention as the more outgoing people in your organisation? People do business with people they like. But what does “being likeable" even mean? Here's what it doesn't mean: - being nice for nice-ness sake - being popular - being everything to everyone Here's what it does mean: - asking for respect instead of being liked - being honest and authentic - being positive - listening to people - recognizing effort Likeability, charisma, presence - whatever you call it, it can accelerate your success. For example -- Sometimes you might choose to let a prospect be heard than try to rattle off the latest product features. Sometimes just listening to a co-worker and a nod of appreciation can go a long way to build relationships. Sometimes telling a client what they don't want to hear earns respect rather than squanders it. Sometimes its advantageous to use easy to understand language instead of industry jargon not because people can't or won't understand, but because they simply don't have the time. They're busy thinking about the next meeting, when they're going to pick up the kids, or what deliverable is due tomorrow. They will appreciate the work you’ve done to make the message easy to digest. Chances are you already do many of these things, but there is always room to improve. Taking a step back can help us identify areas where we can take action so that the next sale/promotion/leadership opportunity gets closer to our reach.

FACT!!!! If you are in sales Communication with your clients and referral sources is KEY!! By respecting their time and making sure their questions are answered will build a great experience. If you in Management or Leadership of sales people then communication and empathy can be a difference maker in building and keeping loyalty of employees. In your personal relationship with Family and friends the key is communication. Please know that when you do NOT provide great communication then relationships are strained. We all get busy but slowing down and thinking of the other person will be a game changer.

Network, your insights matter to me 🌐. Picture this 🎬: a dear friend approaches you, seeking advice on what to prioritise when seeking a new sales role in an unfamiliar company. What would be your 🔝 suggestions? Here's what I would recommend, based on my experience: 1. Success Ratio 📈: In the world of sales, performance is key 🔑. So, my first point of enquiry would be about the success rate of potential teammates. Are they consistently achieving their sales quotas? This can provide insight into the team's skills, drive, and perhaps even the product's marketability. 2. Leadership Excellence 🏅: The capabilities of the sales manager to mentor, guide, and nurture talent is crucial. Does the leader have a proven track record for driving the team's success? 3. Growth & Learning Opportunities 🌱: A company that prioritises its employees' learning and professional development signifies its long-term commitment. But that's just me 🙋♂️. What about you? What key pointers would you give your friend in this situation? 🤔

Everyone has their own agenda. Understanding what people want for themselves is critical in selling, negotiating, team building, etc. I think it's also critical to make sure you understand what others want so you are aligning yourself with the right people, even in life beyond business. Probably not a good idea to have a life-partner who wants different things than you. The skill it comes down to is learning how to listen.

Why don't people talk to customers? After 10 years I've come to a new conclusion, what's yours? My take: They are uncertain about who exactly to talk to. I used to think they feared rejection or they didn't think it was necessary. But nowadays I think they don't even come to that question. They develop a product, create a business plan, or craft a pitch. They know they should talk to customers - I know they do! The real hurdle they have to overcome is the question of whom to actually talk to. Not "which problem are we solving", but "for whom". This is the concrete next step. The "problem they solve" just answers "why to those people" and comes after that. In the early stages, this manifests as: "I don't know where to find them" or "Many of them probably won't care - unpleasant!" (Because the target segment is too vague) Post PMF it changes slightly: "The situations our customers face are so individual - many probably don't face this issue right now and are annoyed when we talk to them." What's your take? I'm interested in different perspectives on what keeps teams from stepping out of their comfort zone to engage with customers.

3 reasons every salesperson deserves 2 minutes of your time: (and why it's actually good for YOU) To be clear... I know you don't have time. I know your hair's on fire. I know the printer just broke again. But still... it's worth it. For you. Let's talk about why. ➊ Salespeople can keep you humble. You're probably crushing it, yes. You're doing a great job. But the best leaders always accept that there could be another way. If there's an industry around a certain problem, it means the problem is valid. Listening in humbly, with an open mind, helps you remember that you're not at the forefront of everything. ➋ Mutual support makes the world better. We're all in sales. Everything is sales. LIFE is sales. We're all trying to interrupt people's patterns, habits, and mindsets to get them interested in what we're doing. To get their attention. I want to live in a world where we all root for each other, give others a shot, and listen (for real). ➌ Maybe they're right. What if they DO save you a bunch of money? What if they DO change your team culture? What if they DO upgrade something that's only so-so? Don't make it easy on them -- make them work for it! But remember... they could be right. They could be there to help you. And it shouldn't take long to figure out if they can. Don't miss out on that possibility. --- When was the last time you were interrupted by a salesperson?
