Pro-Tip: Get play scheduled on your calendar and it'll show up for you. With ease. That's my takeaway from rejoining my Summer Co-ed Adult softball team this season. It's my 15th with the team. I'm grateful to the Baja Bombers for so many years of fun and camaraderie on and off the field. As we age some of us are better than others at keeping play and fun a part of our day-to-day. Research shows that is it essential to our creativity and life fulfillment. (So why is it so hard for us doers to slow down and play?) And play can take many forms (so there should be no excuses, right?) For me, I’m better in the summer when softball games are on my team calendar. All I have to do is show up. And I try hard to negotiate my schedule around game times because they’re so much fun. But I find other seasons are lacking the same fun factor because I don’t have the commitment of a team. So I'm reflecting on my lessons of summer softball to see how I carry those results into the fall. How do you keep fun and play on your calendar and a part of every week?  Any other Pro Tips? Such a good question! I now do The Bar Method classes up to 4x a week when I can fit it in my schedule - in addition to running a couple of times a week and walking a few miles daily. Given the intensity of the projects we're facilitating (currently disaster relief, mobility justice, racial equity among others..) it is a refreshing break to focus on the moves in the class - and a great mental health boost.

It's great to see the Baja Bombers are still running the bases! 🥎 I miss my Piedmont softball days with the Ball Busters an "OG franchise" that made it through a couple of father/son generations.

I ride my bike with my neighbors/friends twice a week in the AM! We hold each other accountable and show up. We've been doing this for many years! And it's my 18th season of PRD Softball!
