As a devoted Penrith Panthers fan (since the days of Ryan Girdler hosting Their House on the Footy Show) my fandom recently came full circle watching #Undisputed.
It highlighted how building a high-performance team is intricately tied to a supportive and inclusive culture, a shared vision of success, and a safe space to accelerate beyond minimum requirements.
Supporting leaders fulfil their WHS duties relies on each of these characteristics and made me reflect on how our work in this space contributes to broader performance benefits.
Nailing WHS does not come from mere compliance— good business accelerates, gets ahead of the trend and actively looks for continuous improvement. Psychologically safer workplaces, where respect and understanding are ingrained in leadership, fosters commitment and drives results. Fulfilling safety duties on an individual level creates a cultural link to your team and organisation's success.
Here's to another year of Panthers domination!
But seriously, it's also a timely reminder to continue to look at how your leadership culture can accelerate beyond compliance to achieve your shared vision for safer and successful outcomes.
