Just celebrated 17 years at Crown. While it’s not a milestone, it’s a significant moment to reflect on the past year of experiences and envision the future. I once saw a poster that said, “If you are not serving a customer, you better be serving someone who is.” This ethos has guided me throughout my 32-year career, reminding me of the importance of support and service in every role. Over the years, I've had the honor of witnessing many individuals join and transition. What remains constant is the value of investing in people and watching them grow. Seeing their journey unfold and hoping I’ve played a small enough part in their success is incredibly rewarding. Even when dark clouds loom on the horizon and storms seem insurmountable, I’ve learned that perseverance and dedication eventually bring clarity and sunshine. In my career, I've learned that celebrating collective achievements isn't just a nice gesture—it's essential for fostering team spirit and gratitude.   This lesson crystalized for me after the successful sale of Kinko’s to FedEx, which was a monumental team effort.   To mark the occasion, I wanted to do something unique that would long remind everyone involved of our shared triumph. So, I treated all the Clayton Dubilier & Rice partners involved with Kinko’s and every Kinko’s team member who reported directly to me to custom-made boots from Leddy’s Western Store in Fort Worth.   Each team member chose the skin for their boots and personalized every detail down to their measurements. It took about a year for the boots to be crafted and shipped, but they were worth the wait. Inside each boot, we had the FedEx logo on one and the Kinko’s logo on the other—a nod to the journey and the partnership that led to our success.   You wouldn’t believe how quickly those CD&R partners got on a plane to Dallas to pick out their boots! In the world of business, “deal toys” symbolize the closure of significant transactions, but I wager few could rival the meaning and personal touch of those boots. To this day, my pair from that transaction remains my favorite (and being from Texas, I’ve got a lot of boots!).   This experience reinforced a crucial leadership principle: share success tangibly and memorably. It turns a personal victory into a collective celebration, strengthening bonds and building a culture where every member feels valued and motivated to strive for the next win.   The way you celebrate achievements can powerfully enhance your team's cohesion and drive toward future success.   #Leadership #Mentorship #WorkplaceCulture #Success #CEO

Sir Lewis' unwavering commitment, relentless training, and ability to conquer obstacles exemplify the importance of choosing courage. He just never gave up. Witnessing top performers continuously push boundaries highlights the indispensable nature of resilience. Remember, success doesn't dwell in comfort zones; it thrives in the courage to persist. I’ve faced countless setbacks in my career and continue to do so. I'm sure you could list your own as well, but we keep moving forward with courage. That's the key. Every year around this time, it starts to feel like time flies relentlessly, and whatever little progress we can make toward our goals is the only reassurance that our time is being well spent. However, I am not consistent at celebrating progress or being grateful for very long for something good I have done or received. It gets quickly forgotten in the day-to-day. This year, I have set the intention to try remembering something I am grateful for as often as possible. But it is difficult to know where to start. Someone suggested that I think about the things I am most proud of and how they came to be. I realize that I am really proud of our ethical approach to the #sourcing and #purchasing functions at Sourcing Values. Being the architects of a mutually beneficial exchange of money and value between two companies. But where did it come from? I then remembered my mentors at #Ford. These individuals often were not even my direct supervisors. Still, they would make the time to counsel, advise, and share insights. One of the most wholesome and memorable ones was: "Ana, in purchasing it is not enough to do the right thing; it has to look like the right thing to all eyes, from every angle." I don't know if I thanked them enough, but today, I feel renewed gratitude to them and to a company that often felt more like a school than just a job. It was nice to arrive at this realization. I will keep walking back and digging for more reasons to value the journey that brought today's treasures.- #automotive #gratitude #leadership
