Here’s a truth few want to hear. But it’s a simple perspective we all need to embrace. “Winning at work and losing at home means you are losing. Period”. -Carey Nieuwhof
This is basically the entire premise of IMPACT Players: Great Husbands, Fathers, and Leaders We help guys THRIVE in the RELATIONSHIPS that matter MOST.
Been there, done that. Not just losing, but a loser (speaking to myself). BTW, winning at home feels so much better. And typically leads to winning at work.
Couldn't agree more. I'd like to see us celebrate success at home more often as a culture
This is one of the reasons I really love Family Teams' advocacy for summits, weekly meetings, and articulation of mission! Our family now has metrics that clarify what it means to win and the wins are more within reach than "Keep the family amicable and help the kids launch to successful careers and families". A collective mission offers a ton more wins before that amorphous future
So so true
amen!
Been there. Not fun. But there is a way out. First step is hearing this truth.
Truth.
I help driven men heal + become emotionally fit | less stress + greater self awareness | feel more confident in your marriage + more present with your kids | healthy habits > unhealthy coping | be you
3moBoom, love this quote. I was this guy for most of my fatherhood journey. Damn, it ate me up everyday. Thankfully, with the help of therapists, becoming sober from porn + alcohol, working with coaches, reading lots of books, and learning about the mind, I can honestly say I am winning. Don't get me wrong, I have moments and days where I feel like I am losing but in words of Coldplay "Just because your losing doesnt mean I'm loooooost." Homelife, including being a single father, is really difficult. But damn, what the heck else matters than giving your all to your family/kiddos!? We only get one shot at being a dad, let's make the most of it and get help if you can't figure it out on your own. Godspeed.
