⚡ Energy transition in Belgium, where do we stand? That was the main question during the Trends Tendances Magazine debate about energy transition.   Well, it could be summarized as: effort is key. 💪 Our colleague Jerome Meessen participated to the debate and emphasized that we must collectively work towards reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 5% per year. 👉 The only time we achieved this was during the Covid pandemic when the global economy was in stand-by. This highlights the scale of structural changes needed.   While progress may seem slow, most of the major companies we partner with at CLIMACT understand the importance, risks, and opportunities of the energy transition.   A carbon neutral Belgium is desirable: it holds the promise of improved supply security, better air quality, healthier food, and more resilient businesses in the face of climate-related challenges. 💡 Proptech and Energy are closely linked: 45% of our energy is consumed by our buildings (French ADEME). In other words, nearly half of our energy consumption can be erased by combining optimization, self-consumption, and diffuse deletion. "Non-industrial" buildings now have all the means to contribute to grid balancing through multiple solutions that are (by the way!) "low CAPEX": Photovoltaics (ENERPLAN), Thermal inertia (e.g., Orus Energy), Geothermal (e.g., Accenta.ai), Energy storage (e.g., Quantitas Energy ), etc...
