Not using all your vacation days is basically the same as telling your boss to burn up your next paycheck. Vacation is something that is part of your overall compensation. Take full advantage of it and remember there is more to life than your job. 53% of Americans won't use all their vacation days this year according to a recent study by Expedia. The most cited reason is because, "life is too busy to plan or go on vacation". Please don't let this be you. Prioritize your vacations and time to yourself the same way (if not MUCH more so) as you do your work. A lot of companies are switching from PTO to flexible time off. On the surface this is great because it empowers the employees to not be confined to a restrictive vacation policy. But the reality is the exact opposite happens. Many studies show that unlimited time off results in employees taking LESS vacation than if they had PTO. So, it benefits companies at the expense of employees. PFC (and Nectarine!) have an unlimited vacation policy, but we take it one step further. It is required that we take one week off per quarter at a minimum. That way, we get the best of both worlds. The upside of not having to carefully allot our vacation days, but also not the downside of taking less vacation. As always, reminding you to build wealth by following the two PFC rules: 1.) Live below your means and 2.) Invest early and often.‎ #money #vacation #timeoff #travel #hr #business
