In 2009, the World Blind Union and its partners marked the 200th anniversary of Louis Braille's birth, leading to the establishment of World Braille Day. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has created 4,050 braille materials to raise awareness and prevent COVID-19. In Ethiopia, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) also distributed audio information, educational materials, and communication resources to media professionals.
