3 months in: time to share some reflections 🙏 May 15, I stepped into my new role as Sr. VP Global IML at MCC Label. Not gonna lie – the past trimester was probably one of the busiest in my career! I’ve had the opportunity to dive deep into our operations worldwide, connect with our passionate team, and start setting the course for the future of MCC Verstraete, MCC Korsini and MCC Karydakis. These past 3 months have been very rewarding and I’m gratefully sharing some reflections : 🙉 Curiosity is key Sometimes the most valuable insights come from asking simple questions and listening - whether it’s a casual hallway conversation or feedback from the front lines. Truly understanding different perspectives uncover opportunities we might have otherwise missed. ⛷ Agility matters Our business landscape is constantly changing, and the ability to adapt quickly is crucial for us and our partners. Embracing change, learning from it, and staying agile helps us navigate challenges and seize new opportunities. ⏸️ The value of pausing It’s easy to get caught up in that day-to-day hustle (👆). I can confirm the importance of taking a moment to pause, reflect, and recalibrate. It’s in these quiet moments that clarity and creative solutions often emerge. 🔝 Leveraging our team I’m incredibly proud of the talent and dedication I’ve witnessed in our teams. Investing in their growth and well-being is my top priority. These 4 insights are not only shaping my leadership, but also how we move forward with the IML business unit. I’m excited about the journey ahead and the incredible potential we have to achieve great things together. PS. New regulations and financial considerations are reshaping the healthcare landscape, particularly concerning private equity backed roll-ups and M &A activity. The prevailing business-centric models of disguising retail entities as health care providers will create a narrowing market of open competition, potentially leading to increased patient costs and a diminished quality of eyecare as the emphasis is on improving bottom lines for shareholders and investors. In this model of corporate take overs of health care, Doctors, while continuing to provide patient care, are often sidelined in business decisions, with the patient effectively becoming unintended casualties. PRISM has created a better model for private practice mergers and acquisitions, learning from vast years of experience. Their shift towards self-consolidation aims to instruct doctors on better practice management, thereby increasing their profits and equity value upon exit through rollover equity participation. CPO, CBO and CCO roles experienced growth in April. With partnership leaders getting involved in making M&A recommendations the lines between a CBO and CPO are starting to get blurry. What I am finding is that the CBOs are better skilled at Business Development aka Strategic Partnerships, the moonshot opportunities that can catapult a business into hyper growth. The CPOs are much better at programmatic deployment of resources, think scale. If you know a CBO, tag them in this post and let's learn about their top priorities.
