This month, the Orbiting Carbon Observatory 2 (OCO-2) is celebrating 10 years of “watching the Earth breathe” from space. 🛰️🌎 The powerful OCO-2 satellite detects and measures atmospheric carbon dioxide globally, providing scientists with valuable data on how carbon is contributing to climate change. The mission team gathered to commemorate the mission’s success and discuss its future. #LifeAtJPL #NASAJPL #DareMightyThings #Earth #ClimateChange
Sad news… to those who knew Gary S. I regret to inform you that Gary has passed away due to a heart attack. Gary was very active in bicycling, archery, Burning Man and an organization. I was the cofounder the black rock observatory. We were coworkers at JPL. A celebration of life will be held for Gary Friday August 23rd from 4-7pm at Cabot & Sons Mortuary 27 Chestnut Street Pasadena CA 91103. A reception will be held Saturday August 24th from 2-4pm University Club of Pasadena 175 North Oakland Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101. Business casual, please no black attire.
Now that we know there are environmental problems on Earth, it would be good to have a Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) of these young people picking up and removing all the trash around America. Oh, wait! A professor once told me that his time was too valuable for cleaning up the environment, but writing research proposals for funds, holding conferences, and protesting about the climate was not. 😎
Wish I could have been there to celebrate with everyone.
Wow 10 years already?!? Feels like yesterday that we were all holding our collective breath at launch! Wish I was there to celebrate all the achievements with you all. Keep up the great work!
Amazing team work with satelite
