A theme that came up repeatedly on my recent visits with Austin technology leaders: talent. Despite the introduction of artificial intelligence and automation, the demand for talent remains strong. That's why recruiting mission-driven technology professionals remains a key reason companies locate in Austin. On a visit to chip manufacturer Samsung Semiconductor, I heard about the tech giant’s strong veteran pipeline and recruiting partnerships with The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University and other regional universities and community colleges. Samsung also develops talent by helping employees learn new skills as technology evolves. Finding the right talent will be important as the company builds a new manufacturing facility outside of Austin in Taylor.  Special thank you to San Antonio branch director Tyson Tuttle for joining us on this visit and sharing industry insights with me.
