This also meant that potential investors could buy at prevailing NAV, and as assets grow the economy of scales benefits everyone. Private Credit Titans Are Grabbing More Than Half of New Deals. The top dogs in direct lending such as Ares Management Corp. (ARES) and Blackstone Inc. (BX) are deploying over half of the market’s capital, according to a new report by the Alternative Credit Council, an industry body for private credit funds that’s affiliated with the Alternative Investment Management Association. That’s troubling news for the legions of newcomers vying for a piece of the action of Wall Street’s hottest market.

Simons was "a quite figure" not many out there would have heard, less popular than his peers like Warren Buffett and others, but a investing wizard who used (introduced) quantitative models in investment. His basic degree was in mathematics was a professor at the Stony Brook University before establishing his hedge fund Renaissance Technologies. To quote one of the stats is - if one had invested $1,000 in his signature Medallion Fund in the year 1988.
