Recently, at the Aspen Ideas Festival, I spoke with CNBC’s Julia Boorstin and explained why I wrote my op-ed about falling in love with electric vehicles. Everyone that knows me, knows I’ve spent my whole life loving cars, building them, racing them and am in a lot of ways an old-school car guy. As I explain in the article, I was surprised when I fell in love with EVs and it wasn’t because of politics or the environmental benefits. It was because I love to drive and the driving experience of my electric F-150 Lightning is wonderful. And as CEO of Ford Motor Company, I see how EVs can improve the lives of our customers and this transition is important for our company and employees. As I mention in my op-ed and in this video, I think it’s important we start talking more about the actual human experience of driving EVs, instead of the politics. When we’re at our best, solutions for improving quality come from all levels of the business. Several years ago, Alonzo Fischer, an hourly employee at Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Engine Plant started exploring cutting-edge solutions to help his colleagues with training and skills development. This led to the implementation of an Augmented Reality (AR) platform for training employees on critical quality-related tasks. This program has already dramatically improved the quality and efficiency of training employees to help us better serve our customers. Already other plants, like Rawsonville Components Plant, have adopted the same technology for their quality training needs. As a lifelong car guy, I was surprised when I fell in love with electric vehicles. And it wasn't because of government policies or political beliefs. It's because I drive one. And as CEO of Ford Motor Company, I see how they can improve the lives of our customers. Electric vehicles remove daily hassles and remind us why we love to drive. In my 40 years developing vehicles, one thing I've learned is that you never want to be on the wrong side of customers and what matters in their lives. 

Last week, I had the privilege of speaking with Ford Motor Company’s summer interns at our annual fireside chat. The interns came with some great questions, and I shared a few pieces of life and career advice, including some things I wish I'd learned when I was their age. As a leader, it's important to keep growing. There’s always more to learn! Here's some of the simple, but impactful advice that I shared with them. Hope you find it useful, as well.

The Family Open Houses are back this summer for our Ford Motor Company employees. Love that we’ve brought back this tradition for families to look forward to! These events honor our manufacturing teams. The family members of our Ford plant teams are all invited for a fun day of programming and a chance to go into the plants and see firsthand what their daughters, sons, moms, dads, siblings, spouses and more build every day. Thanks to Louisville Assembly Plant for kicking off the first of 22 Open Houses coming later this summer in the U.S. and Canada. #WeAreFord
