Large Diameter Water Connections In April 2024 larger diameter connections became possible on the water network. Previously connections larger than 63mm had to be completed by the Network Operator. Recently BGS Utilities completed their first 110mm connection directly onto the network. This is one of the first such connections completed by any SLP. This is a new 110mm water main, designed, installed, tested and connected without any external involvement on site. You can rollout as much as you want, FttX, Mobile Sites, electrical networks etc. but when the load balancing in the network is not well the rollout or modernization can cause more damage then improvement. I have seen users who where not able to connect to the network as the load balancing was not in order, something simular is happening now in the Netherlands on the electrical power network, companies, newbuild houses and a lot more... can't be connected to the E-Power network. Several times I was requested as they had moved users in one night from one mobile network element to another (new) element... believe me disasters did happen. Do you face strange issues in your network, check your load balancing or hire the right expert to investigate and who will provide a solution.

The scale of this infrastructure failure is staggering and demanding in the supply chain. Our energy providers in Texas as are in full war room mode and working extremely long hours. Out of state linemen, engineers,and support staff are working around the clock as they always do in these emergencies. The real test in my opinion is not going to be the manpower but rather the supply chain and potential lack of materials for this high transmission interregional transmission system. These infrastructure projects of this scale are planned years in advance and use equipment built to job spec, I don’t pretend to know but it’s unlikely there are warehouses full of this level of equipment sitting around. We as developers have been battling for years the supply issues with just the small green transformers on retail lot levels. Unfortunately this equipment need is on an entirely different scale. The attached post says it better than I but I would suggest that our country needs to address standardization. We also need to refuce the constant regulation changes that pushes transformer and heavy transmission manufacturers off shore. Well that’s my opinion what’s yours.
