From a recent Antares Capital LP survey, private equity sponsors are eager to deploy capital in the 2H of 2024. From my vantage point, the volume and quality of opportunities in market isn't yet supportive of a full-blown rebound in M&A. That seems more likely in 1H 2025.

Many firms focus on specific categories or business models when building a portfolio. But that’s now how the team at ZMC operates. They select potential assets based on two key factors: 1. There’s a macro-trend the team believes in that will drive growth for the company. (These themes are identified and vetted on an ongoing basis.) 2. The company has some “unfair advantages”—like proprietary information or a world-class team or network—that have created a defensive moat for the business against competitors.
