CEO/ Founder of Midi Health, revolutionizing healthcare for women at midlife - to relieve their symptoms and support their wellbeing.

What makes you most nervous about getting older? Mostly I feel great. I know I am incredibly lucky to get to run Midi Health, my kids are healthy and like me, and I have good friends. So my fears are mostly around health. I don’t want to live longer necessarily, just healthier. I am scared of Alzheimer’s, having watched my grandfather live his last years in a memory home and I want to be able to stand straight and exercise for as long as possible. Part of why we started Midi Health is to help women live stronger. We know that estrogen decreases your risk of certain health conditions, including osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, dementia and mood changes. Yet one study found that only 4 percent of women 50 and older in 2018 and 2019 were receiving hormone therapy, down from more than 22 percent in 1999 and 2000. If you are not using hormones and you are eligible to take them (90+% of you over 35), please consider the benefits. Your older self will thank you.

Agree - Alzheimer’s. After learning The Notebook actress Gena Rowlands has Alzheimer’s years after her role, I fear the odds. Have been re-reading Lisa Mosconi’s latest book!

There is a huge opportunity for education to help us navigate menopause. I love how you’ve elevated awareness and educate us through your posts. And, alzheimer’s and other metabolic diseases scare the heck out of me. The more I read about the risks that emerge in menopause the more I want to work with specialists!

I have been told that because I had cancer in the past I am not a candidate for hormone treatment for menopause. Is this still true? I am one of the many women who is on antidepressant medications instead, to help with the emotional parts of the hormone changes. My fears about aging are financial. I have been through so many medical challenges over the past decade that I think I can get through a few more, but having the money to do so is what scares me. Thank you for all you do, and for this conversation.

I ws so terribly disappointed to have my invitation to work for MIDI fall through fall through simply because I hold only a California N.P. License. My passion is endocrinology, specifically HRT, perimenopause, pms, weight problems, PCOS etc. what a mistake this to have this restriction imposed! I love and am so good at understanding and treating these conditions…

Declining health including the potential for dementia and loss of the senses— hearing, vision, etc. So important to stay connected and engaged with other people. But it can be difficult to push ourselves to engage. Sent from my iPhone

I agree - Alzheimer's is my biggest worry, as my mother had it. Then just suffering - in pain and/or not able to live my life on my terms.

I love that! I personally find focus on longevity quite boring - I also don’t want to focus on living longer, it is how we live, not how long (although my grandmother is 96 and mainly thriving) but for sure want to ensure that I keep myself healthy and fulfilled. And that my kids will like me when they grow up!
